NRIs Slam 'Salman Khan' For Biased ‘Political Behavior’

By Fauzia Arshi | Jeddah

After a heavy oppose in India by several muslim groups, now several non-resident Indians (NRIs) and muslim groups based in foreign countries have slammed Bollywood star Salman Khan for appearing to support controversial Indian prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Critics say Khan recently appeared to have a good time at a kite flying festival in Gujarat with Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, and at an event in Saifai in Uttar Pradesh (UP), not far from Muzaffarnagar, where the UP government is allegedly not doing enough for the Muslim victims of last year’s riots.

Some Muslims have even called on the public to boycott “Jai Ho,” Khan’s latest film.
Hameed Sultan, a resident of Dammam, said: “It was surprising to see Khan calling Modi a good person, praising him, and showing support for a man most Muslims hate,” adding that Khan has surely disappointed many Muslim fans.
“While Modi was cleared by a special investigating team of provoking rioters and being involved in the violence, this has not changed how many Muslims view him,” he said.
Nasr Syed, a Jeddah resident, said: “Most people in the Kingdom might not be concerned and want to boycott his movie, but what concerns me the most is that he speaks about being human and supports Modi, who has been held responsible for the communal riots during his governorship when hundreds of Muslims were killed. It surely portrays his values toward humanity.”

Another resident of Jeddah, Sayeed, said: “Any reasonable person would not have done it. Khan’s fans and the Muslim parties in India can definitely have objections. He has upset people here and in India.”

Ahmed, based in Riyadh, said: “Although I’m a big fan of his personality and acting, I am sorry to say that he has tarnished his image.”

He said that Khan’s movie might be affected by the call from Parliament member Asaduddin Owaisi in Hyderabad and a youth group in Aligarh urging Muslims not to buy tickets for Jai Ho.

Majeed Syed, based in Jubail, said: “With Khan being a famous and controversial celebrity, it was clear that such news was going to be hyped by the media. I consider it a cheap publicity stunt.”

Some Indian residents have not called for a boycott of Khan’s movie, but believe he should have considered the sentiments of his Muslim fans before accepting Modi’s invitation.

Yes! He is an open mushrik and his actions do not reflect upon Islam. But unfortunately he carries a muslim name and some fool muslims patronize him as an ideal.
People must realize he is an entertainer and and entertainer will do anything to make himself sell in the market. Today he feels that all the media and hindu wave is behind "NAMO" so lets praise him and get the required publicity.
We all must remember that these hero heroines are nothing but modern day entertainers who instead of showing there acts on streets and grounds have a bigger platform because of the influx of technology.
In olden times because of the lack of glamour such people were looked down upon and shunned from the society but these days glamour makes a bag of shit with there colorful gift wrapping look desirous while actually they are scathing. - Naved Khan, Saudi Arabia

The Mullahs, the owaisis are bunch of psycophants and morons. Look at how they are leading the community. They r saying not to buy tickets for his movies. Does that mean is it ok to watch other fawahish things ? By this it only proves none of muslim leadership is concerned about their islamic culture. They all seem to give license for immoral works. Why the heck these mullahs and owaisis are concerned about Islam then? - Ashraf Al Raturr (Muscat, Oman)

You said right. The mentality of muslims in india is such that any haram acts committed by a person bearing a muslim name is permissible. Do you want to check a sample of this ? Ask these so called muslims if they would support these bollywood khans in case they were to support other parties like congress. They would label these khans as muslims immediately. - Sanjeeda Aziz (Alkhobar, Saudi Arabia)

After reading all the comments not only here but also in previous articles i could understand only one thing.
HOW EASY IT IS TO DIVIDE INDIANS ON COMMUNAL BASIS.
if it is so easy to divide and provoke educated and civilized people how easy it would be to divide and provoke uneducated and uncivilized people by the politicians.
ms afshan aziz .... there was no need to write an article like this and spread communal hatred.
i thought indians are sensible enough to know the intentions of people like afshan aziz and hindutva leaders but i was wrong. - Mohammed Basheer Saleh (Madina, Saudi Arabia)

Salman Khan very clearly avoided supporting Modi-- while using the event to promote his film.

Salman explicitly said "In my constituency I will vote for Baba Siddiqui and Priya Dutt-- and asked who will you vote for ?"

When people said "Modi, Modi"-- he asked "not for anyone else ?" and people said "no no"

So, he laughed and said "Not even for me ?"-- at which point the crowd started clapping and cheering for Salman.

After that he said "let God Choose the best man for India-- Modi is a good man, but who is the best man... God will decide". - Naresh Jain - Dubai UAE

Do not dodge and play with words. I am a muslim who practice 5 pillars of islam. I never watch these idiotic bollywood films nor I do I ever support these khans. Yet, if someone asks me to chose between Congress and Modi. I would definetly chose Modi. Congress is a hypocrite to the core. - Amjadullah, Chicago USA

Jus think the other way. If u were in Muslim majority country with Hindu minority and instead of Salman khan let it be some Kumar or Raj, what you would say. You will be smiling with pride that these infidels hv no choise. Would you think so. Then why do you crib. However the Court has given clean chit for Modi in riot case and you people still accuse him. Lets take Mumbai blast. It's established that dawood ibharim is the main culprit. Have any Imam or Mullah has asked for appology? - Venkar Rao - London UK

Are you smiling for what salman has done? if yes, you are a fanatic.

everyone knows that Dawood Ibrahim is a criminal. can you quote a single supporting comment of a muslim for Mumbai blast?
no one is expecting an apology from a pandit/sant for Gujrat riots.

watch Godhra Riot video & interview of Babu Bajrangi & others with hidden camera on youtube. For the sake of argument, if Modi did not provoke rioters, do you atleast know the powers of Chief Minister? Modi could have stopped it in matter of no time.

Lets be fair & support the truth. - Danish Raza (Pakistan)

We don't entertain culprits.By the way a culprit is a culprit and culprits are not among us.Instead you show me one example where a chaddi or a chaiwala had condemned the mecca masjid, samjawtha, malegon, muzaffarnagar, ajmer incidents? Its one's prerogative to support any evil organization or individual. You can admire and follow such culprits. We dont entertain such people who are a disgrace to the humanity. - Steven George (Doha, Qatar)
