Think & Act: First Agra, Next Aligarh: Get ready For Your City For Hinduvta 'Reconversion Drive'
The issue of reconversion – or ghar wapasi - as the proponents of the exercise would like to call it, is likely to keep western Uttar Pradesh on the boil for the rest of this year. After Agra, the Bajrang Dal and the Hindu Jagaran Manch are planning a similar campaign in Aligarh on Christmas day. The overt communal nature of the exercise is expected to have political repercussions too.
Although the Bharatiya Janata Party does not officially endorse such campaigns, one of its firebrand MPs, Mahant Adityanath of Gorakhpur better known as Yogi Adityanath, has been actively involved in such campaigns for many years.

Lax Tenant Norms Making Hyderabad Terror Haven?
Until National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths swooped down on a house in Balapur and nabbed Myanmar national Khalid Mohammed, neither Cyberabad police nor the state intelligence agencies had any clue that a suspect associated with the Burdwan blast was staying at a rented accommodation on the outskirts of the city.
After the twin blasts at Dilsukhnagar in February 2013, Cyberabad police had carried out a door-todoor search to gather information about suspicious elements. Subsequently, they came up with a `tenant verification' idea, prepared a format and posted it on its website. The format is supposed to be filled up by house-owners with all relevant details of the tenants.

Mass Conversions In UP: Rightwingers Use Fear And BPL Cards To Bully Muslims
BSP leader and former UP Chief Minister Mayawati was at the forefront of a strident opposition protest in Parliament over the conversion of around 57 Muslim families in an Agra slum by the Bajrang Dal and the Dharma Jagran Samanvay Vibhag, an offshoot of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Alleging that the people were bribed and forced to convert to Hinduism, Mayawati said that the government needed to respond to these serious allegations, adding, "It is the responsibility of the party that comes to power to ensure people are allowed to follow their faiths without facing any discrimination. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that forcible conversions do not take place."

Making Gita A 'Rashtriya Granth' May Confuse The World
From being Gandhi's moral basis for non-violence to capturing essential mystical truths for Aurobindo, the text means different things to different people.
In April this year, I simplified the complex Bhagavad Gita written in Sanskrit to reach a larger audience through just 18 tweets. Known to contain the essence of ancient Vedic thoughts, Gita was put down in writing at a time when Buddhism was on the rise advocating the way of the hermit: renunciation of worldly life and striving for oblivion of identity (nirvana) for complete freedom from suffering (dukka). Gita proposed an idea where liberation (moksha) could be obtained by participating in society and fulfilling our ritual and worldly duties.
