Prison Rehabilitation & Correctional Services Negligence: 'No 'Shrinks' for Condemned Souls'

There are no psychiatrists or psychologists to check the mental fitness of inmates lodged in 50 jails across the state, according to the Telangana prison administration.

To add insult to injury, this is what the deputy inspector general of prisons, M Chandrashekhar, had to say when asked about the number of mentally ill inmates –”We don’t have any such data. What is the use of keeping such data when several inmates are released and several others are sent to jails everyday?”

Begur Gram - Where The Seeds Of 'Bengaluru' Were Sown

Now absorbed into Bangalore’s bustling information technology district is the village of Begur. A stone inscription found here is the first historical mention of Bengaluru.

They may not find their names on tourist maps. They may have been erased on historic maps. Yet, crumbled stone walls and broken sculptures tell you a story, sometimes giving you clues to the very identity of a city.

RSS Claimed, 'Converted 200 Muslims As Hindus In Agra'

An offshoot of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday claimed to have converted at least 57 Muslim families into Hinduism at a 'Purkhon ki ghar vapsi' (Coming home of the ancestors) ceremony in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district.

At the mass conversion ceremony, organised jointly by Dharma Jagran Samanvay Vibhag and Bajrang Dal, the right-wing groups said they were able to bring more than 200 Muslims "back to Hinduism" at Madhunagar slum area of the city. The organisers said the converts will soon be given new names.

Aam Aadmi Party & Rakesh Roshan Sign A Deal On 'Krishh-4': Arvind Kejriwal To Star As 'Muffler Man' In The Film

Bollywood ace director Rakesh Roshan and Aam Aadmi Party signs a pact to feature Arvind Kejriwal as 'Muffler Man' in 'Krishh-4' film slated to go on floors during early 2015.

Things are finally looking up for AAP, and no, this is not a quote from Yogendra Yadav. Riding on high on the success of getting #MufflerMan to trend for a week and fueling a spate of memes, the AAP cyber-cell has pulled off another coup by landing Arvind Kejriwal the plum role of Muffler Man in Krrish 4.

Exclusive: Why 'Taj Mahal' Has Spawned A Creed Of Greed?

It’s a massive source of revenue for Agra, but the Taj has spawned a creed of greed that is eating away the city’s foundations.

From the top of Agra’s Buddha Park the Taj Mahal is a changeable feast; its colours like the colours of the day. Sunrise, sunset, moonlight, all are mirrored by the white marble. From here it looks much like the little glass-housed replicas that sell by the lakh across the country. But to enjoy the view, you must leave your sense of smell at home.

Consumer Crisis: India Bans All 'App-Based Cab' Bookings

The knee jerk reaction on the part of authorities to ban all app based cab and taxi aggregation services, is liable to hit the very person it is supposed to protect - the customer.

The Delhi government's knee jerk reaction to the rape of a woman passenger by a Uber cab may have temporarily solved the problem of unregulated cabs picking up passengers, but it will only worsen the shortage of cabs across urban centres in India.

Don't Miss To Travel: 'Devprayag' – A Place Of Confluence Of The Body, Mind And Soul

An unassuming town firmly snuggled between 3 mountains, whose peaks are considered sacred; Devprayag is one of the 5 prayags. As you make your way up the narrow, winding roads from Rishikesh, you get to see the beautiful Ganga flowing below; it’s bejeweled, and emerald tinged waters sparkle in the early morning sun.

Having spent the past few days in Rishikesh at a camp, I always wondered how Mother Ganga’s waters were such a brilliant shade of emerald. The answer was lying in wait for me in Devprayag.

Hard Fact: "The Reader Is Not Interested In The Story"

The internet is an opportunity for journalists to prove the media’s marketing gurus wrong.

Some years ago, I was a reporter in the founding team of a new news magazine. When the magazine launched, the marketing team sent journalists an email saying that we could gift four free subscriptions to anyone we liked, but could we please make sure the four recipients fell within the magazine’s TG?

I wondered what TG meant. The only TG I knew was transgendered. The marketing team explained that the TG they were referring to was Target Group.
