Trolling – An Ever Growing Menace In India

The social media is now literally everywhere. Abuse on social media is hurtful and unacceptable, but it will not be easy to stop this ugly trend.

It has been phenomenal in its rise. The social media is now literally everywhere. Across the world, people have taken to blogging, tweeting and Facebooking with such fervour that at times the traditional media seems to be a pre-historic creature. With very few moderators vis-à-vis the number of social media users, it has become almost a free-for-all match on the worldwide web. There is so much blah blah blah all around us that it even prompted a columnist of a British newspaper to say that he is discontinuing his column to reduce word emissions. He was joking, of course.

Tubelight Movie Review: Salman Khan Film Flickers A Lot With Little Late Glow

A man child. Or a child-like man. Salman Khan has had long practice of playing one or the other kind of male, and has aced both. His latest alter ego takes the child-like aspect of man several notches higher. Salman’s character Laxman Singh Bisht is called, disparagingly, ‘tubelight’. Why? Simple. It flickers. It takes time to switch on. And then, and then only, there is light.

Because it is Salman, we go in looking for a plot designed to propel him, and us, towards that light. And because it is Kabir Khan, who has the ability to layer mainstream with meaning, and who has given the star one of his most memorable films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, we hope for the magic to work again.

An Open Letter To Salman Khan: Out With Bollywood

Salman Khan, do the right thing; propose a sportsman’s name for the ambassador of Indian Olympic Association.

Dear Salman,

Even as I start this letter I know that while you are never going to take an interest in it, your armies of fans might. The love and loyalty that you inspire knows no bounds. And that is truly admirable. Everyone wants to have a piece of you—the selfie, the reply on Twitter, the handshake—it must get exhausting.

Superstar Salman Khan - The 'Last Sultan' Of India

By NISHI KHAN | INNLIVE

The man, the mind and the mayhem. Up close with Hindi cinema’s biggest star ever made.

Outside a large vanity van that casts a soft light upon its owner whenever it is opened, like a refrigerator in a dark room, Salman Khan sits under a temporary structure made of poles and tarpaulin sheets, across a table with several white plastic chairs. He sits at a slight elevation—two chairs stacked one atop the other—as if to distinguish his position from those who come to occupy the other chairs.

Film Review: ‘Madaari’, A Common Man Saga Takes On The Epitome Of Reality!

By MUGGA SINGH | INNLIVE

India may top in corruption, but voices against it have been dime a dozen, and cinema has ever so often projected a rebellious shriek against the misdemeanors of the state.

Films like Dombivli Fast (remade in Tamil as Evano Oruvan/Someone) and A Wednesday (also remade in Tamil asUnnaipol Oruvan/Someone Like You) have shown us how the common man when driven to the desperate drop-off takes on the Goliath of a state. While Nishikanth Kamat’s Dombivli Fast uses violence to make its point, Neeraj Pandey’s A Wednesday applies a largely cerebral format to focus on the angst of a man living in times of terror.

Actor Sanjay Dutt's Biopic, Facing Many Technical & Situational Hurdles. Will It Ever Be Made?

By RAMAN KAPOOR | INNLIVE

Ever since it was announced, the Sanjay Dutt biopic has transformed into some kind of an organic entity that has a life of its own.

And in many ways, the crests and troughs the proposed film Rajkumar Hirani directed film has already undergone even before the filming of a single frame, resembles the life of the very actor it is based upon.

Officially the film that was to feature Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt has been delayed, but reading between the lines of statements made by the likes of Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan - two people without whom any half-decent Sanjay Dutt biopic would be incomplete - presents a different picture.

Bollywood Analysis: From ‘Sultan’ To ‘Housefull 3’, The Horrid Ways Bollywood Targets People With Disabilities

By ABHA KHETARPAL | INNLIVE

Being a person with disability, and working as counselor for persons with disabilities and disability rights advocate I have always raised my voice against discrimination and stereotyping of disabled people.

Disability metaphors and analogies abound in our culture but disappointingly, Bollywood continues to shut out persons with disability with blatant ableist dialogues and storylines, which objectify disabled bodies.

An oft-repeated adage in showbiz is 'fake it 'till you make it' but sometimes the acting doesn't end on the big screen. It seeps into real life.
