Why Indigo Airlines Staff Deplaned Kerala CCL Cricketers?

By Vimala Menon | Cochin

INSIDE STORY The Indigo Airlines on deboarded 28-member squad of Kerala Strikers at Cochin International Airport for allegedly misbehaving with the crew. The team, comprising of actors who are participating in the ongoing Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), had boarded the 1 PM flight from Cochin to Hyderabad.

Speaking exclusively to INNLIVE, Aji Pattath, Organiser, CCL, who was travelling with the team when the incident occurred, denied any wrongdoing from the side. Pattath claimed the players merely “clapped” after one of the air-hostesses finished demonstrating the on-board safety instructions.
“The players just clapped after the air-hostess finished her safety instructions. Nobody intended anything wrong. They just clapped,” he told this correspondent over phone.

“The air-hostess then confronted us and asked who whistled. The fact is that nobody whistled. They just clapped,” he insisted.

“The airhostess then said, ‘I want to see how you people fly now,’ and complained the matter to the captain. Captain Ajay Mishra then asked for a written apology from us, but we refused since we had done nothing wrong. He then asked us to leave,” Pattath added.

On being asked what caused the juvenile behaviour from the team, the official retorted, “There’s no rule that says you can’t clap on board.  Clapping is not a crime. We didn’t misbehave with anyone.”

The team, currently stuck in Cochin, will fly to Hyderabad tonight, or will board a morning flight on Saturday via Bangalore to reach the Andhra capital, Pattah informed.
