Action Super Hero 'Salman Khan' As 'Kite Flyer' In Gujarat

By Raina Aswal | Ahmedabad

Style is the man, and when the man is Narendra Modi, kite flying is not something you associate with him. In politics, such pastimes are for ditherers, not for doers.

Then there he was the other day in Ahmedabad, playing the game with someone who shares his hyper heroism: the action hero of Indian politics, in dark glasses for a change, flying the real as well as the metaphorical kite with the super action hero of Hindi cinema.
They were a pair to behold. One is the ultimate masculinity of the Indian Right, engaged in a do-or-be-damned battle for India. The dark glasses suited him, but they could not have concealed the burning determination in his eyes. The trademark scarf and the half-sleeve kurta added to the spirit of the game, figuratively of course.

The partner was one he deserved. The muscle mascot of the shirtless tangoed perfectly with the mass idol of the saffron India. Salman Khan and Narendra Modi - and the action drama with a political subtext could not have hoped for better star cast.

Well, in certain scripts, political theatre begins with an innocuous kite.
