In an interesting case of history repeating itself, the calendar year of 2014 is a replica of 1947, the year of India’s Independence as the combination of dates and the corresponding days of the week repeat themselves on the almanac.
Ahead of the New Year, some soothsayers have predicted that 2014 will see continued political instability, both at the Centre and the state.
“According to our numerological calculations, based on days of formation of the country and the state of Andhra Pradesh, political stability will not come easily in 2014,” says well-known numerologist Harshvardhan G. Astrologer R M Shastry of Narayanaguda says 2014 will belong to the common man because of the traits of Ketu, a shadow planet representing spiritual liberation, mystical experience, perception and past life qualities among others.
“Like in the year of India’s Independence, people stood up against oppression and injustice, this year too Indians will fight against corruption and graft,” Shastry says.
Interestingly, on August 15, 1947, the day the British made their exit from India after ruling the country for 200 years, was also the day the then state of Hyderabad became independent after 400 years. On this day the state of Hyderabad became truly ‘free’ as it was subordinate to none—neither the Mughals nor the British Raj.
The year 2014, similarly, will be crucial in terms of the panning out of the state bifurcation issue, experts predict.
The year 2013, a replica of 2002, which saw the Godhra riots, was chaotic and troublesome for the Telangana protests.
“However, the coming year will be positive for the T movement and will see things laid down in order and methodically,” Harshvardhan said as the numerological calculations favour the T-leaders, who are at the forefront of the struggle.
Some analysts say that it is balderdash to suggest that 2014 will be replica of 1947. “The stars will not be in the same houses and at the same place. Astrological combinations are unique and the same combinations are not replicated even in million years. It is only that the English calendar is same,” says K N Palash, an astrologer. The city’s various ‘seers’ say that there has been a barrage of queries, mostly from the young working community, on what the new year will bring for them.
Tarot card readers, palmists and numerologists in the city say that questions regarding job security were most commonly asked, followed by queries on personal lives and health.
“Many young working professionals with well paying jobs are apprehensive about the future of their careers. Sadly, many of them are suffering from clinical depression without even realizing it,” says Suhasini, who runs Tarot Card World Wide at Begumpet.
With the rising levels of stress, however, 2014 will see many turn to spirituality to deal with their daily pressures. “People’s interest and inclination towards spirituality will be at an all time high in 2014,” claims Harshvardhan.
