Is tantric sex right for you?

Though tantric sex has been in existence in the Indian subcontinent for ages, it came to international limelight recently with singer Sting. A famous proponents of the discipline, he has been very vocal about practicing it in real life. He has described it as "a journey", not "f****** for eight hours".

However, the concept may have been much misunderstood and misinterpreted by the masses. Sexologist Rajan Bhosle says," Tantric sex is not an auto-technique where you lose energy but both get enriched in energy while making the divine journey."

He further states that the concept of tantric sex is present in Bigyan Bhairav Tantra which gives a detailed analysis of its origin. "There are several translations of the book available . It traces its geneseis to the Shiva-Parvati's union."

"I think Osho Rajneesh's books are very simply told and will be helpful for starters to understand the idea. Tantra is not all about sex; it's just a part of it. It's about sex between consensual partners but not as a means of indulgence," Bhosle says.

From the fitness point of view, however experts beg to differ. Leena Mogre says, "As far as fitness is concerned, I think your sex life will be good, if you are exercising properly. When you have a balanced diet and work out regularly, your hormonal levels will always be right. Then the muscles and blood circulation will be in place, and needless to say anyone'ssex life would be great. I think tantric sex is more of overrated concept, nothing else."
