A Blissful Place To Visit: Dubai, The City Of Golden Dreams

Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates. It name originated from the Arabic word 'dubbay' means, gulf. It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is one of the seven emirates that make up the country. 

The city of Dubai is located on the emirate's northern coastline and heads up the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area.

Dubai the golden city of dreams entices you with its awe-inspiring architecture and quality of life. The city has many architectural wonders to boast of. Think Dubai, the grandeur of Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, the Palm Islands and the Dubai Mall, the world’s largest mall flash before your eyes.

But I am going to disclose some really awesome places which are equally important, but are less visible to the outside world. Some of it are ancient and silently speak, volumes about the growth of this sparkling city through the ages. Hope I have aroused your curiosity to the max.

Dubai Creek
The ancient Greeks called it Zara. This salt water creek served as a minor port for Dhows coming from far off places like India and East Africa. It was a haven for the beautiful pearling industry in ancient Dubai.

The area surrounding it has grown by leaps and bounds. You can have the majestic view of the city architecture, when you sail along the creek in abras.

The abras, ferry you through the quiet waters of the creek for a Dirham. But in return you are fully mesmerized by the magic of the city. When you sail along the creek, you get a glimpse of the Deira Twin towers, Dubai creek towers and on the other side you can view the largest park in the world, the creek park.
 
Grand Mosque
The majestic appearance of the Grand mosque beneath the golden skies of this mystical city, leaves you spellbound. The Islamic architecture in all its grandeur that’s Grand mosque for you.

This awesome mosque nestled between the textile Souq and on the banks of a small stream that is the Dubai creek, which offers it a tranquil atmosphere, speaks much about the rich cultural and religious heritage of this city.

It boasts of the Dubai’s tallest minaret of about 70m high and towers over more than 50 small and large domes that give the city’s largest mosque, its distinctive silhouette. The Grand Mosque is one of the spacious mosques in the United Arab Emirates.


Ski Dubai
This awesome winter wonderland, makes you forget that you are in a desert. You feel as though you are having a skiing holiday in the Alps. Splendid is it not?

This Ski resort is in the Mall of Emirates one of the popular hangouts in Dubai. You will be astonished to see the giant snow balls, Ice Mountain, ice cave and so much spine chilling wonders.

You can even have a nice chat with the penguins, provided you should book for it in advance. You don’t need to worry about the cold atmosphere over there, you are provided with winter clothing, ski and snowboarding equipment. This will keep you warm and make your time a splendid one.


Wild Wadi Water Park
This is a ‘must see’ place if you are an avid adventure and challenge seeker. This awesome water park is themed around the adventures of Juha and Sindbad.

Brace yourself for some 30 incredible adrenaline pumping rides and attractions. If you feel all tired and hungry then satisfy your culinary appetite in the child friendly restaurants. The rides are simply scintillating. Make this glorious moment etched in your memory by collecting souvenirs from the souvenir shop.
 
The Dubai Fountain
People this will be one of your most enriching experiences in life, so make it a point to visit the Dubai Fountain. It is the world’s largest fountain, which is set on a 30 acre man-made Burj Khalifa lake.

Some amazing facts about this fountain will make you even more hooked up to visit this place. This majestic fountain is illuminated by 6,600 lights and 250 colored projectors.

The fountain is 275m long and sprays up water to as astonishing 500 feet high. The water dances to the tunes of ‘The Prayer’ by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson and ‘I will always love you’ by Whitney Houston and some popular Arabic, Hindi and English numbers.


Dubai Dolphinarium
This finest air conditioned indoor dolphinarum is a habitat for some amazing bottlenose dolphins and Northern fur seals. Curious to know its location? It is situated in the Creek Park.

The Dolphinarium provides complete entertainment coupled with enlightenment. You get valuable information about dolphins, seals and other marine creatures. After the breathtaking performance of this majestic sea beings you get to admire and adore them.
