Summer is promising to be menacingly hot this year, with the mercury already climbing the charts steadily.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 32.8°C , two notches above the season’s average, while the minimum was at 19°C, also two notches above the normal, the Met department said.
Humidity levels oscillated between 42 per cent and 92 per cent.
The weatherman forecasts that the mercury will continue to move skywards and a prolonged summer is inevitable.
Predictably, the demand for power and water will also soar and result in a near-seasonal crisis for the city if timely steps are not taken.
The Indian Met department has forecast a clear sky with mist in the morning.
The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33°C while the minimum would be 18°, a MeT official said.
Today, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.7° and the minimum at 18.2°.
