Top Wedding Food Ideas To Amp Up Your Shadi Menu

With weddings coming up it's time to trigger the gluttonous side, for good food is among the most integral part of a wedding celebration. And with weddings getting bigger, better, and costlier, we give you a low down on the latest trends that make the wedding affair sweeter, tastier, and yummier. Get ready for the decadent delicacies like apple jalebi with chocolate sauce, Japanese Sushi, glass noodles, cold salads, and more.


It's different 
South Indian and Continental food counters are a passé says chef Gunjan, a food consultant at ITC Rajputana Delhi. " The wedding menu has seen a volte face. Today people travel and lot and are therefore not at all conservative about experimenting with newer recipes. The trend today is of Japanese, Mexican, and Lebanese food counters. Sushi is among the most desired palette today." said Chef Gunjan.

The chat sffair
Chats and street foods are a never dying fad. There have been experiments in this section too. Apart from trying out street food from different corners of the country, people are also experimenting with the famous chats. Gol gappe with fruit juices, fruit bhelpuri, and tangy bajra tikki, and sev puri with cheese are all getting popular. "For our  wedding reception we decided to pick different street foods. We included Dabeli, Rajasthani Kachori, live pasta, and a few others. " said Nikhil Agarwal, businessman at Hyderabad.

Live stations
These are the most happening counters at weddings today. From mexican station, to sea food bar, pasta station, craving station, soup bar, chocolate station, ice cream station, and several others, these live food stations have lent people the liberty to choose their own mixing.  " Live stations are quite popular in weddings as hey provide delectable options with themed infusions. This  trend has picked up greatly in the recent weddings." says Chef Ajay Mathur, executive chef The Lalit, Jaipur.

Fitness feast
Move away deep fried food , the healthy options are here. Guests at weddings are no more compelled to have those deep fried preparations. " Wedding trends have changed and tasty food isn't restricted to masaledaar and ghee dripping savouries alone. The fitness conscious gentry can always opt for organic salads, healthy soups in different varieties, or even freshly tossed vegetables, fruits, and pastas. Some love experiments like mushroom tossed with litchi, or pineapple with pasta etc."

Blend of national and international delights
Move away typical Punjabi Khana, the Lebanese, Continental, Chinese, Mughlai, Japnese, Italian, are all making waves on the wedding palette. You name a dish and you are served. "The latest is the Japanese monk food. People, those who can afford, actually invite the monks from monasteries in Japan to have them cook special delicacies food for their weddings. This is one growing trend in current marriage functions." says Chef Gunjan.

Dishing exciting desserts 
With everything from the salad to soups and cocktails taking a U turn, can the rejuvenation of desserts be avoided. " A lot of experimentation has been done with desserts. Apple, Kiwi, and pine Apple jalebi with chocolate sauce, ice cream whipped with fresh fruits, beetroot halwa, are very popular this season." said Chef Mathur. 

Chef Gunjan, believes that no matter what, the Indian desserts will never lose its sheen. " I try out newer things with the traditional sweets by giving them a twist. Gulab jamuns will never die, but the trick is to add newness to it. Chocolate gulab jamun, paan ki patti ke gulab jamun, gulab ki patti ke gulab jamun et el."
