Varanasi Doctor Performs Sterilization Surgery To 100 Women And Thrown Outside The Hospital Due To 'No Beds'

In a shocking incident at a primary health centre in Varanasi district, a female doctor allegedly performed 100 sterilization operations on women despite lacking basic facilities such as mattresses and blankets.

The doctor also allegedly forced the women to move out of the health centre and asked them to lie down under the open sky.

In a bid to set a record, these operations were allegedly performed in four hours at the primary health centre (PHC) of Chirai gaon village by Dr. Lalit Yadav. She is now under the scanner of the Varanasi Chief Medical Officer.

“This health centre is just a four-bed hospital and the doctor, after conducting the operations, chased away the women out of PHC. She forced them to lie down outside PHC without any mattress and blanket under the open sky,” alleged Ramesh Kumar, a relative of one of the women.

CMO of Varanasi M.P. Chaurasiya told INNLIVE: “Actually, a team of five doctors performed the operations. It is true that the women were forced to lie on the ground outside the PHC. But blankets and mattresses were made available and a tent was erected after the family members created a ruckus. An inquiry has been ordered and action will be taken against the erring doctors.”

Yadav did not answer her phone when INNLIVE tried to contact her. Her house in an upscale locality of Varanasi was found locked and her neighbours said that the house seemed to have been deserted after the news of operations was aired on the national news channels.
