‘TIME MACHINE' THAT WILL TAKE YOU IN PAST!

By CJ Renuka Rao in Hyderabad

Ever wondered about the mystery behind the stars, the galaxy and the earth, but the uninteresting, technical answers science gave bored you? The BM Birla Science Centre has initiated a programme whis is sure to re-ignite that interest. Called ‘The Time Machine’, it is a novel presentation which shows viewers the history of the planet, and the universe in a very engaging manner.

“We have initiated this programme from Saturday, keeping in mind the lay men and children.

The show is basically about history of the earth and civilisations which existed thousands of years ago,” said Dr BG Siddarth, director of the BM Birla Science, at a press conference.

He added that apart from showing the latest knowledge on various topics, the presentation will also feature path breaking results obtained at the science centre on topics like the origin of Vedic Astronomy.

Unlike a regular presentation, the screen in the science centre is spread out across the ceiling which is conical in shape. The projector for the presentation is imported from Japan, and costs crores. “The aim of the programme is to bring forward children and the lay men towards science. It provides information on various topics like astronomy,” mentioned Dr Siddarth. ‘The Time machine’ was also the brainchild of Dr Siddarth, who spent almost six months coming up with the software.

“I got the idea to start it a year ago, and had to work on it for six months to make the show. There will be seven shows a day on weekdays, and 11 or 12 on weekends,” he added.

The price for the 40 minute presentation is only Rs 20 for school children, and Rs 40 for adults. “Although maintenance may be an issue, so far it is touch wood,” said Dr Siddarth.
