A Destination Pleasure Resort - ITC Grand Bharat, Manesar

A homage to India and her rich heritage—the ITC Grand Bharat in Manesar (Haryana), with its grand hospitality, lives up to the ITC standards.

A healthy dose of scepticism is essential to any investigative project, and this does not exclude inquiries in the reasonably pleasant sphere of travel and hospitality. I, therefore, went laden with a guiltless baggage of doubts to the brand-new ITC Grand Bharat in Manesar.

Imagine my surprise when I returned a convert, and a staunch one, after just a two-night stand. In the few images I skim online before I set foot in it, the hotel seems like a giant confection—of the wedding cake variety.

Investigation: 'They Still Die In The Govt Labour Rooms'

INNLIVE team goes undercover to see how women are treated in a large government facility in Kolkata and found the unimaginable truths and dwell the reality behind these practices direct under the governmental controlled medical services.

Munmun Mukherjee is a good patient. She lies quiet on the white stone delivery table of the government hospital in Kolkata but for an occasional low moan. Even this is muted, the edge of her voice flattened, as if she knows that she needs to be on her best behaviour. A slim, dusky woman, she looks tidy even in her tired, crumpled nightie.

Our Plight - ‘Denial Of One Rank, One Pension Is Not Breach Of Trust Also A Betrayal’: Ex-Servicemen

In the wake of growing displeasure among ex-servicemen over the delay in implementation of ‘One Rank, One Pension’ (OROP), Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated his pre-poll promise and said his government is in “constant” talks with armed forces and trying to arrive at a decision agreeable to all stakeholders concerned.

“No one should have any doubts about OROP's implementation. But there are varied versions about what the definition of OROP should be. Would it be proper for me to take a decision without keeping the armed forces personnel in the loop?

Focus: 'Fake Circulars' Virus Infects Indian Govt Ministries

Fraudsters are on a rampage and the target is the Union government. Fake circulars, vacancy announcements and appointment letters are spawning across the ministries. And unsuspecting people are falling prey to the scam.

The police have been activated and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a couple of scamsters. But there are too many of them, it seems, lurking around.

The Union ministries are baffled with this spurt of fake circulars, announcements and letters.

Why Bengaluru’s Lakes Started 'Foaming' Mysteriously?

The detergent industry is hastening the death of the city's water bodies, say environmentalists.

On April 29, Pooja Uthappa, a resident of central Bengaluru, left her home in the morning, like any other day, for her workplace at Sigma Technology Park in Whitefield. She took a bus and got off at the Varthur Kodi bus stop, next to Varthur Lake. The sight was striking. The entire lake was blanketed in a thick layer of snow white foam and the froth, over two feet high, was spilling onto the main road.

The Dark & Horrifying Tale Of Delhi's 'Great Baby Bazaar'

A new industry is taking deep roots in the Delhi’s underbelly. This is the great baby bazaar where bidding for a newborn starts the day a hapless woman gets pregnant, while the kid is still in the womb.

Girls and young women, mostly from Jharkhand, are fodder to this illicit business. They are brought to the national Capital on the pretext of being employed as helps, then raped and sexually assaulted by the unscrupulous owners and employees of placement agencies and forced to bear babies. But that’s not the end of their misery.

Eat Your Way With These 14 Varieties Of Indian Mangoes

It’s that time of year when everything is bathed in a warm, fuzzy, honey glow and there’s a sweet fragrance in the air. That might be partly due to summer setting in across India but it’s also because the best (and India’s national) fruit is making the rounds.

For most Indians, summer is synonymous with mangoes; climbing trees to pluck those sunshine-coloured fruits or watching our grannies prepare mango pickles for the year. Mangoes are a habit that many of us find hard to give up.

Shadow Of A Promise: Where Is Modi's One Rank, One Pension For All Defence Ex-Soldiers Assurance?

The shadow of promises are haunting Modi's government. The example of ex-soldiers is set for these setbacks. Why the promises were made if they doesn't know to make followups is the question still unanswered.

The Narendra Modi government is expected to deliver on its “one rank, one pension” (OROP) promise, a promise the prime minister himself made to armed forces veterans when he kicked off his election campaign in Rewari, a southern district of Haryana with a strong tradition of sending men into the armed forces.

Special Report: Why Govt Relief Packages And Loan Waivers Won’t Work To Stem Farm Suicides?

Even in regions touted as India’s food bowl, Rs 3000 a month is all that a farmer earns for his family! INNLIVE analyses data from CACP to highlight the grave crisis in the agrarian economy that calls for immediate and unprecedented government action.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a higher relief package for farmers. At the same time he has directed banks to restructure agricultural loans and also asked insurance companies to proactively settle the claims. “Helping farmers at this time of distress is the government’s responsibility,” the prime minister assured the nation, stating that a team of central ministers had been sent to the affected areas to assess the crop damage.

Special Report: Global Brands Drive More Than 6,000 Crore In India’s Active Sportswear Market

If there is one market segment that is clearly marked by the dominion of global brands in India – it’s active sportswear.

From a segment driven by a collection of largely unorganized and homegrown SMEs two decades ago, today these international icons have not just made the market much more organised but have bolstered its overall size to over Rs. 6,000 crores. Many pure-play brands today are also into sports accessories, gear & equipment, while others have expanded their offerings to include sports-inspired product lines.

The Samajwadi Party of Uttar Pradesh is all set to emerge stronger on the national political horizon with the decision of five other parties to merge into it.

Since the other parties are represented in several states, the SP, which has fared poorly in states other than UP, gets a chance to claim in its campaign in UP from now afterwards that its model of ‘samajwad’ is all set to conquer new states.

The five parties merging into Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party are Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, Om Prakash Chautala’s Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and HD Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular). Mulayam will be the president of the new political front.

Focus: 'Najafgarh Lake' Wiped Off From The Map As Haryana And Delhi Govts Leave Lake From Records

The future seems to be bleak for the Najafgarh jheel, and it’s all because of governmental apathy. The Delhi government and the Haryana government are apparently not much bothered about the restoration of the lake — a wetland vital for the revival of the water table in Gurgaon and South Delhi.

While the Delhi government plainly says that the lake does not exist anymore within the boundary of the Capital, the Haryana government is completely indifferent to the matter.

Focus: Why Cows Deserve More Protection Than Women?

It is now safer to be a cow than a woman in our country. Thanks to the over-zealous saffron brigade enforcing laws ensuring her safety and long life, they are also the more empowered lot.

While the Fadnavis government was busy earning brownie points, passing motions to ban consumption of beef, Haryana government went a step ahead and covered itself with cow dung by taking a historic step deciding to issue unique identification numbers to its indigenous cattle.

Analysis: Congress Party Plans To Go For 'Crowd Funding' To Combat 'Acute Financial Crisis' To Raise Funds

Facing its worst-ever financial crisis, the Congress has devised an elaborate plan to raise funds directly from the public through its 3.86 crore members all over the country.

It is currently brainstorming various ideas, among which one is that a Congress activist should be allowed to keep 5% of the collected donation money as incentive or commission. So says the presentation given by the party’s treasurer Motilal Vohra to a meeting of general secretaries.
