But back home, popularity of chatbots could lend a significant blow to the Indian Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. Chatbots, are making their debut on Facebook, Google and Skype and function as robotic customer service representatives for a host of companies such as taxi, ecommerce, news, weather etc, and are increasingly being deployed globally and in India.

Annual base salaries of white-collar workers in the country are the lowest among major economies in the Asia Pacific region. Microsoft's strategy for LinkedIn is likely to follow the path of Yammer. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has explained the rationale behind the tech company’s plans to buy LinkedIn for $26.2 billion.

In a letter to staff, Nadella said he believes that access to LinkedIn customers will benefit the sales of Microsoft products and in exchange, LinkedIn’s growth would be “accelerated”.
