Cricket Buzz: Is Indian Captian 'Virat Kohli' Decision Is Correct On 'Five Bowlers' In The Test Team Strategy?

By RAHUL SHARMA | INNLIVE

India’s new captain thinks it’s the only way to win matches, but are the batsmen good enough?

It’s hard not to hop on Virat Kohli’s bandwagon. In press conferences and interviews, he exhibits the persona of a champion boxer who is building up a head of steam to a pay-per-view title fight. He speaks with a sense of belief that is uniquely persuasive. His train of thought is crystal clear and yet to be tainted by the burden of results.

He is also a gambler who appears to have the blessings of the Indian public to take a punt on match scenarios. Evidence of this was seen after the Adelaide Test last year when Kohli was lauded for his efforts to take the attack to Australia on the final day even though the match was lost in trying to secure an improbable win.

Special Report: Land Pooling Strategy For The New Andhra Capital Could Become A Model For India's Smart Cities

By M H AHSSAN | INNLIVE

Andhra Pradesh's experiment with voluntary land pooling could provide an alternative to forcible land acquisition.

Tallayapalem is a village like many others in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district. It has lush green fields, and its prosperity is evident from the concrete houses scattered along its central thoroughfare. Somewhat incongruously, one field off the main road houses a canvas tent under which a small group of policemen has been doing 24-hour duty since June 6, 2015.

Why The Cleanest Capital Tag Doesn't Amuse Bangalore?

The Swachh Bharat Mission has ranked Bangalore as India's "cleanest capital" and Bangaloreans can't decide whether to celebrate or utter a collective blah.

The reason: the city stinks, literally. Indeed, Bangalore has been struggling with a garbage crisis for five years now, and despite the promises of successive governments, it's nowhere near being resolved.

A series of agitations beginning in 2011 to force the state to act hasn't done much good either.

So, when the survey was released by the urban development ministry on 8 August, Bangalore's residents understandably wondered on what basis their city had been chosen the 7th cleanest overall.

Why In UP Madrasas Are Teaching An Anti-Terror Course?

To dispel any notion that madrasas breed terrorists, a seminary in Uttar Pradesh has introduced an anti-terrorism course in its curriculum.

Jamia Rizvia Manazar-e-Islam in Bareilly hopes its course 'Islam and Terrorism' will help students understand how terrorists misuse the Quran and the Islamic law to further their agenda.

The madrasa is run by Dargah Aala Hazrat, which made news last month for issuing a fatwa prohibiting funeral prayers for "any person associated with terrorism".

Defeated In Odisha, Is Posco Conquering Maharashtra?

Maharashtra’s coastal district of Sawantwadi is set to see some change, come 2016. Almost 33 thousand acres in size, it has lately been gaining popularity as a tourist spot and for its wooden handicraft industry. But it is in the news these days as it’s set to host South Korean giant Posco, which has signed a MoU with Uttam Steel, promoted by the Miglani family, to set up a 3 million tonne per annum integrated steel plant.

POSCO stays undeterred by the unsuccessful attempt to set up a steel plant in Odisha. The 12 billion dollar project lays dormant as the Center and the company have come to an impasse.

Exclusive Coverage: Agencies Cracks Down On Fake Bank Notes After Govt Fail To Track Counterfeit Currency

A huge cache of counterfeit currency, being pumped into India from Pakistan, is going undetected. In an assessment of the past four years, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has concluded that less than 1 per cent of fake Indian currency in circulation has been seized.

The sharp dip in seizures -- from 2 per cent in 2010 to less than 1 per cent -- has alarmed the Government, prompting it to come out with new security features for bank notes that will make counterfeiting difficult. Of the eight new security features that have been decided upon, one has already been implemented, sources told INNLIVE.

The font of the alpha numeric and the numbering panel has been raised. The need for new features was felt after the IB submitted a report to the Government after reviewing fake currency trends between 2010 and 2014.

What Does 'Uber' Rise Mean For Public Transport in India?

How government priority is influenced by a class that aspires to physically separate itself from the greater public. There was a time in India, not too long ago, when travelling by a car meant one of two things— you were either in a private car or in a taxi. Now, app-based car services for instant hire have become extremely popular amongst certain sections in India's metro cities.

Companies like Uber and Ola have been doing extremely good business in India, seeing a rapid spike in their name recognition. The business has been so good that Uber claims Kolkata is its fastest growing market after the US and has better growth than London. After Kolkata, Mumbai is its second fastest growing market and other Indian cities aren’t far behind.

Who Is Radhe Maa? Everything About The 'God-Woman'

Move aside Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, you've got company. After the godman who made us endure MSG: Messenger of God, comes Radhe Maa who could be his sartorial soulmate. The self-styled god-woman has become the talk of town after she was named in a complaint filed under the Dowry Prohibition Act by a woman from Kandivali.

The complaint accused Radhe Maa of instigating the woman's in-laws and husband to harass her for dowry. On Saturday, cases were filed against seven people including the woman's husband, as per the orders of a magistrate court. None of them have been arrested yet.
