Growing Older Is Fine, It’s Growing A Tummy That Worries

It is the week of my birthday and my friends, their husbands and some aunts have been asking me rather un-politely: ‘So, how old are you turning?” I am inching towards the big frightful number, but not just yet. “Not yet 40,” I reply coolly. “But what difference?”

There is a difference. I cannot tuck my shirt in my jeans anymore. I have never been afraid of growing older. I never stopped a child from calling me “aunty”, not even some of my eight-year-old’s teenage squash buddies.

Crackdown? Modi Draws 'Lakshman Rekha' For MPs & Ministers; RSS Cancels 'Ghar Vapsi' Mission

The boss has cracked the whip, at last! Reportedly a rap from Prime Minister Narendra  Modi sent the RSS scurrying to rein in its affiliate Dharma Jagran Manch, which was all set to organise a 'ghar wapsi' drive in Uttar Pradesh and several other states.

The BJP found itself in the eye of a storm when the Dharma Jagran Manch organised an event where hundreds of Muslims were allegedly converted to Hinduism.

Bigg Boss 8: Rahul Mahajan To Enter As Wild Card Entrant?

It seems like the makers of the controversial reality show Bigg Boss are leaving no stone unturned to raise the TRP of the show. The audience will witness a lot of twists and turns in the upcoming days.

A few days back, there were rumors about the show getting extended for a month and now here comes another big piece of news. If sources are too believed, Rahul Mahajan will enter Bigg Boss 8 as fifth wild card entrant.

According to a source, “The makers have approached some of the ex-contestants; especially who had created lot of buzz in the house. This list includes names like Rahul Mahajan, Sambhavna Seth, Dolly Bindra, Imam Siddique and Ajaz Khan. Rahul is almost been finalized; the final dots are yet to be signed. Talks are still going on with the other contestants.”

Bigg Boss-8 Diandra Episode: 'Kissing Doesn't Make You Pregnant' As India Is Sexually Ignorant

"Kissing doesn't lead to pregnancy," said model Diandra Soares, after her exit from the reality tv show Bigg Boss, reminding many that ours was once the nation of the Kama Sutra and is now that of "sexpert" Mahinder Watsa's column.

Soares was presumably being sarcastic, but the idea that someone would think kissing causes babies doesn't seem entirely impossible in India. For a country whose population can barely be contained within its boundaries, it's alarming to realise how little India knows about sex.

Pakistan: The Most Dangerous Place To 'Go-To-School'

More attacks on schools have occurred there than in the next four most dangerous countries combined.

Education is a dangerous thing in Pakistan. Tuesday’s horrific attack, in which more than 120 students were killed at an army school in Peshawar, was the latest in a long list of assaults over the last few years that runs into the thousands. Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai’s case might be the most well known, but a quick look at the country’s past makes it clear that little has changed since those infamous shots rang out in 2012, turning her into a household name the world over.

Sydney Siege Shows The Rise Of A New Form Of Extremism

Man Haron Monis, the perpetrator of the Sydney Siege, appeared to be unaware of basic Islamic theology.

Man Haron Monis, the sole perpetrator of the Sydney hostage siege, is but one example of the recent development of a new form of Islamic extremist radicalisation.

In recent years, Islamic extremism has been developing rapidly inside and outside of Australia. Islamic extremism has become fertile ground for many malcontents to protest against their societies.

OpEd: 'We All Unite To Eliminate Jihadis Of All Stripes'

At least 150 people, mostly children, have been killed in a Taliban assault on an army-run school in Peshawar. According to Pakistan Taliban, which has taken responsibility for the carnage, the school had been targeted in response to a recent offensive by the Pakistan Army in which hundreds of militants are believed to have been killed in North Waziristan and Khyber.

Undoubtedly, this senseless act of unspeakable brutality should be strongly condemned by all.
