Congress 'Active' Gameplan To Rein In Jagan Reddy In AP

By Srinivas Reddy | Hyderabad

The Congress's move to push for the creation of Telangana state is aimed at isolating and restricting Y S Jaganmohan Reddy completely. When Telangana comes into existence, there won't be much difference between the new state and the rest of Andhra Pradesh as far as number of districts or Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies are concerned. But it would certainly restrict Jaganmohan's political influence to less than half the state.

Jaganmohan, who is meeting national and regional party leaders to seek support for a united Andhra Pradesh, may have unwittingly become the reason for bifurcation of the state.

Nelson Mandela -- Global Statesman And Peace Icon

By M H Ahssan | INN Live

Nelson Rohlihlahla Mandela, anti-apartheid activist, joint winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, and the first President of South Africa to be elected by a truly democratic election, died peacefully and surrounded by his family members at his Johannesburg home on Thursday evening, local time. He was 95.

His life, more than any other, has come to symbolise the struggle for racial equality and self-determination of the diverse peoples of South Africa and the African continent: beginning with his early childhood in the remote region of the Transkie, his gradual entry into politics as a young lawyer, the 27 years of imprisonment at the hands of white supremacists, and his triumphant return to freedom as a man who, in his own words, sought the middle ground between “white fears and black hopes” in one of the most segregated modern societies in the world.

Must To Understand The Indian Constitution Article 370

By Amitabh Mattoo (Guest Writer)

Article 370 was and is about providing space, in matters of governance, to the people of a State who felt deeply vulnerable about their identity and insecure about the future.

At the Bharatiya Janata Party’s recent Lalkar rally in Jammu, its prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, called for a debate on Article 370. This is encouraging and suggests that the BJP may be willing to review its absolutist stance on the Article that defines the provisions of the Constitution of India with respect to Jammu and Kashmir.

Analysis: Do Women Enjoy 'Equal Rights' In Kashmir?

By Wasif Raja | Srinagar

Narendra Modi raked up Article 370 and Kashmiri women’s rights at his Jammu rally. What followed was a flurry of counter-claims.

At his first ever and massively attended rally in Jammu and Kashmir, which saw the participation of a significant number of Muslims, the BJP’s prime ministerial hopeful Narendra Modi asserted that Article 370 that grants special status to the state did not protect the rights of women. Citing an example, he said that unlike men, if women from J&K marry outside the state, they lose their rights as permanent residents of the state.
