Scientists have sequenced the entire genome of the world's longest poisonous snake - king cobra - and uncovered the secrets behind its deadly venom. King cobras, capable of growing up to 18.5 feet in length, can be found in forests of India and throughout southeast Asia.
Researchers from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, along with a team of international biologists, also analysed the genome of the Burmese python (Python molurus bivittatus) and used it for comparison with the king cobra (Ophiophagus Hannah).

Journalist Sameera Aziz is all set to become the first female Saudi filmmaker in Bollywood, the Mumbai-based film production centre. The journalist has written the scenario of the movie, “Reem”, the story of a Saudi girl looking for her mother, an Indian woman.
Reem’s mother went back to India following her divorce from the Saudi father when their daughter was eight months old. The father re-married and Reem was brought up with the children of her stepmother.

Hrithik Roshan married Suzanne Khan, daughter of actor Sanjay Khan, on December 20, 2000. The couple has two sons, Hrehaan and Hridhaan.
Mrs Roshan has reportedly walked out on her husband and moved into her parents' home, due to Hrithik's rowing proximity to his Kites co-star Barbara Mori.

The brief honeymoon that took place between the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti is now over. K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) of the TRS has reverted to what his critics believe is his favourite pastime - declaring 'Telangana Bandh'. Yes, the region will be closed on Thursday, the day the Union cabinet will, according to KCR's sources, decide to carve out a separate state of Rayala Telangana.
"Our young boys did not commit suicide for Rayala Telangana. Who asked for it? We did not," said an indignant KCR. On the face of it, a logical argument. Give us only what we asked for, goes the reasonable-sounding plea. Nothing more, nothing less.

According to usually well informed sections of the political grapevine Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi is deeply worried over the decline in her party’s popularity on the eve of a general election. Drastic measures are being contemplated to reverse the trend. The favorite option that currently tops the agenda is to replace Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after the assembly poll results are out. The projected date of change is early January. That would give a clear four months for the party to recoup its losses before the 2014 polls.

Nobody knew about them. Nobody. Not even many generals of the Indian Army. Their voices were muted and their bodies were like swift-moving shadows. On November 14, 1971 as sullen winds moaned on the encroaching night, the silent shadows sprang to life moving with a lightning speed to surround, overwhelm, and destroy the Pakistani posts one by one. All along the hills and valleys of the Chittagong district they immobilized the Pakistani army and allowed a wide zone for Indian troops to march into East Bengal with little or no resistance.
They are the Tibetan Special Forces (TSF). They fought for a cause that was not their cause and for a war that was not their war. When the war ended, in addition to 190 wounded, they had lost 56 of their men including one of the toughest, CIA-trained Tibetan guerilla leaders Dhondup Gyatotsang. Yet their towering courage went unrewarded, and their heroic saga is forgotten and lost in the mists and sands of Time.
