J&K Attack: It’s Not Too Late, PM Must Cancel Sharif Meet

By Dhiraj Nayyar (Guest Writer)

The mild mannered Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not, by definition, a tough talker. But for once, he can deploy his legendary silence as an effective weapon of toughness. He must use it on Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Yet another audacious terror attack by Pakistan-trained terrorists in the heart of Jammu, on a police station and an army camp, which has left at least 12 dead and several injured is reason enough for even a dove to suspect that the hawks are ruling the roost on the other side. In the circumstances, talks are just a smokescreen, for the hawks.

AP CM Takes On Congress, Says State Bigger Than Party

By Sumitra Rao / INN Live

Defying the Congress leadership once again over its decision to carve out a separate Telangana state, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said the concerns of people of Seemandhra are more important than the party.

As the union home ministry is drafting a resolution on Telangana for putting it up to the cabinet before sending it to the Andhra Pradesh assembly, the chief minister said it would be very difficult to go ahead without addressing the concerns of the people.

Another 'Asian Financial Crisis' To Hit In Next 12-18 Months

By M H Ahssan / INN Live

Make no mistake, a second Asian Financial Crisis is on its way. This storm will not blow over soon. It originated in the US, when the Fed proposed to taper and end quantitative easing.

The frightening thing is that this will happen in stages over the next 12-18 months, and each turn of the liquidity screw can cause a fresh financial storm. Nothing Chidambaram or Raghuram Rajan says can avert the storm.

Insight: The Metamorphosis Of External Affairs In India

By Kajol Singh / INN Live

By the end of this year, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) will feel like a new place, with most of the divisions expected to sport new heads—as the ministry goes through the latest cycle in transition.

Over a month before Sujatha Singh took over from Ranjan Mathai as foreign secretary, there had already been some changes afoot. The most important was that in the high-profile Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran (PAI) desk, when then incumbent, Y K Sinha, was posted to Colombo as the Indian envoy.

In Sinha’s place, 1994 batch Indian Foreign Service officer Rudrendra Tandon, who was director PAI, was promoted to this key post, which monitors some of the key bilateral relations with India.

Big Question: Will Jagan's Release Hasten BJP-TDP Tie-Up?

By Ramesh Reddy / INN Live

While Jagan Mohan Reddy’s release on bail ahead of the 2014 elections led to speculation of likely tie-up between the Congress and the YSRC, in all probability it will also hasten the process of TDP’s alliance with the BJP.

After TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu met BJP president Rajnath Singh recently, it was clear that the former allies were coming together. For BJP, the tie-up would mean netting an ally in its depleted NDA, as it would like to showcase sufficient number of partners with Narendra Modi as the PM candidate. However, for the TDP, the tie-up with BJP would be a matter of survival.

Opinion: A Travesty Of The Constitution And Democracy

By Jayprakash Narayan (Guest Writer)

The argument that a convicted person should have the right to represent people is ludicrous, if not so tragic.

The UPA government’s decision to promulgate an ordinance exempting convicted legislators from disqualification is a grotesque and unacceptable decision.

That we have to advance arguments against such an obviously absurd stand is an indication of the precipitous decline in standards of political behavior in the country. Here, we are not talking of people against whom FIRs are registered, or charges are pending. We are talking of protecting those who are convicted of a crime in a court of law! Given the influence and power prominent politicians and elected legislators wield, it is rare that FIRs are registered against them.

'Toyota Grows Into A World Leader In Hybrid Technology'

INN Advertorial Desk

In 1993 Eiji Toyada, the Toyota Motor Corporation [TMC] President, questioned how acceptable it really is in the 21st century, to continue to build cars the same way. And with that thought was born, the G21 project that aimed to create vehicles using entirely new technology. Toyota’s commitment towards the environment has resulted in their utilization of technology and processes that keep environmental impact at their minimal in all stages of the vehicle life cycle.
