The Rhiti Sports Management-Mahendra Singh Dhoni deal continues to get murkier with every passing day. The Times of India has a report that questions how Arun Pandey’s Rhiti Sports managed Mahendra Singh Dhoni the whopping Rs 210 crore that the Indian skipper was promised when he signed on in 2010.
It was a deal which toppled the previous record of Rs 180 crore held by none other than Sachin Tendukar and sent the Indian cricket stratosphere into a tizzy. “We are delighted to sign a three-year contract with Dhoni,” Sangeet Shirodkar, RSM’s marketing president had then said. “Henceforth, we’ll be looking after Dhoni’s endorsements, brand associations, corporate profile, patents and digital rights, images, visibility on social networking sites and merchandise through a joint venture.”

Frustration levels of the Telugu Desam Party are reaching their crescendo. Does it augur well for a political formation that has provided a direction to the national politics from the very next year of its existence for two full decades is a pertinent question that has to be thought out by its leadership. The party became irrelevant in national political arena soon after it was uprooted lock, stock and barrel in 2004 in the State.
National leaders and media reduced their attention on TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu. It has been almost 10 years since Naidu remained a regional leader. The repeated defeats in by-elections in Andhra Pradesh across all regions further relegated the TDP into the political wilderness.

Let’s ask the political parties what makes them fear public scrutiny. The recent decision of the Central Information Commission (CIC) to bring political parties within the ambit of the Right to Information (RTI) Act is a welcome step. And there’s nothing surprising in the way the political parties have reacted to it. After all, no one in a position of power wants to be transparent. It’s almost a human tendency. In this case, the political class clearly does not know what the RTI is. In fact, a common user of the RTI knows it better than them. The negative reactions of the political class stem from the typical mindset of “why should I?”

Within a couple of days by the end of the BJP national executive meeting in Goa starting on June 7, 2013 Narendra Modi may be declared as chairman of the party’s election campaign committee or perhaps even as the party’s prime ministerial candidate. In either event it will be perceived with near certainty that he will become eventually the BJP prime ministerial candidate. This prospect fills his supporters with glee and his detractors with alarm. One section thinks that his ascent to the post will bring deliverance. The other section believes it denotes disaster. Who is right? Seldom has an individual polarized public opinion thus.

In a shocking discovery, it has been found that the pieces of paper used by Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt for making paper-bags while serving the jail sentence, are actually those on which Justice Markandey Katju wrote his famous mercy pleas.
Copies of those pleas, submitted to the President, the Prime Minister, and the Home Minister of India, as well as to the Governor and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, apart from those sent to various media houses, are now being put to use with Sanjay Dutt beautifully carving them into paper-bags.
