Have you heard about White mulberry? Not many people have, but the plant possesses incredible health benefits and can treat numerous diseases including cancer.
White mulberry is a Chinese plant which was introduced to the USA in colonial times in an attempt to start the silk industry. There are many plants grown for industrial purposes which are rarely known for their health benefits, and white mulberry is one of them. The tree is used for timber as well as for tennis rackets, hockey sticks, furniture and boats due to its flexibility and durability, while the other parts such as the fruit and berries are great remedies against diabetes, tumors and cancer.
How does it work? Some of the compounds in the plant work similarly to type 2 diabetes drugs – they slow down the breakdown of sugars in the gut and are absorbed slowly in the body, which results in stable blood sugar levels. White mulberry also contains rich amounts of vitamin C, carotene, pectin, fiber, inverted sugar and resin, an active ingredient helpful in cases of tonsillitis. It also contains antioxidants which can reduce your blood pressure and prevent heart disease.
A new study discovered that the plant also contains resveratrol, a rare compound with powerful anti-cancer properties. And, although white mulberry can be helpful in the treatment of many diseases, its ability to lower the blood sugar levels is considered best.
High sugar levels in the blood are associated with diabetes, inflammation and obesity, but luckily the plant can lower the levels and prevent these serious diseases. According to several studies, white mulberry helps the body process sugar better, effectively preventing numerous diseases and blood sugar spikes after a meal.
