Tata Motors Launches 'GenX Nano' At 2 Lakh Starting Price

Tata Motors Ltd rolled out a new 'GenX Nano', the next generation of the car equipped an automated manual transmission, more luggage space and safety features, in a bid to give a boost to the brand.

The new GenX Nano will cost Rs. 2.10 lakh to Rs. 2.59 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) for the manual transmission and Rs. 2.80 lakh to Rs. 2.99 lakh for the AMT model.

In Delhi,  the manual transmission Nano will be available in the range of Rs. 1.99-2.49 lakh and the AMT model will cost between Rs. 2.69-2.89 lakh ex-showroom. 

At this price, the Nano will be the cheapest automatic car available in the world.

"Nano continues to remain an important brand in our passenger vehicle portfolio and we have been constantly evolving the product to deliver the most relevant city car features for the Indian market," said Mayank Pareek, president, passenger vehicle business unit, Tata Motors.

The new range comprises five variants, three with four-speed manual transmission and two with a five-speed AMT gearbox. Its AMT also comes with a sports mode for performance-oriented drivers.

The Nano, which will come in 7 colours, is powered by the 624cc multi-point fuel injected 2-cylinder petrol engine producing 38PS power at 5,500 RPM.

Another big change in the new Nano is its openable hatch. It will have a boot space of 110 litre in manual transmission variant and 94 litre in AMT.

It has a 24-litre fuel tank with a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.6 kilometres per litre and 21.9 kmpl for manual and AMT versions respectively.

Other changes include a new front and rear bumpers with infinity motif grille, smoked headlamps among many other changes inside and outside. It also gets a music system with Bluetooth, CD, USB and Aux-in.

Pulling out all stops to attract new customers, the company is offering a whole of lot of customisations and accessories as well.
