After the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) of Jammu and Kashmir issued an admit card to a cow for appearing in professional entrance examination, the owner of the bovine has asserted that he will take his cow to the exam to be held on May 10.
“I filled the diploma entrance examination form online in the name of my cow, Kacher Gaw, only to check the system. It was never my intention to hurt anybody’s feelings or to taunt someone,” Abdul Rashid Bhat of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district told reporters.
He uploaded a photo of a cow, used her hoof instead of thumb impression and a portion of tail in place of signature.
According to the admit card Kachir Gaaw, a brown cow, is the daughter of Gura Dand (Red Bull). It has been allotted a seat at the examination centre at the Government Degree College.
Rashid, who runs a shop, said he has proved that BOPEE guidelines are a futile exercise, which unnecessarily depresses students.
“It speaks volumes about transparency in conducting professional examinations like this”.
On how his form was accepted when a candidate is required to have passed matriculation examination from any recognised board, he said, “There is also a clause that those candidates, who have appeared in the qualifying examination and whose results are awaited, can also appear in the entrance examination. My cow’s result is awaited,” Bhat said.
The incident came to light after Opposition National Conference (NC) spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu uploaded a copy of the admit card on Twitter.
Reacting to the issue, a BOPEE spokesman said “The data of the candidates, after submission, directly goes to the Server of the Service Provider. The data remains inaccessible to all including the BOPEE officials so as to rule out its fiddling and to leave no scope for complaints,” he said.
