Modi 'Cabinet Regig' On April 8, Smriti Irani To Be Sacked!

EXCLUSIVE: Modi Govt's HRD minister Smriti Irani could be sacked in the upcoming second cabinet reshuffle by PM Narendra Modi. The Modi government is all set for its second cabinet reshuffle next week.

In all probability BJP-PDP coalition in Jammu and Kashmir would bag a position in the cabinet. Mehbooba Mufti, chief of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is expected to join as a Union minister.

Sources told INNLIVE on the condition of anonymity: “The change might take place by or before April 8”. Three Minister of State (MoS) might be promoted and Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla is likely to be dropped.

The three MoSs, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Manoj Sinha are the ones in the offing to join the cabinet as Union minister. Jayanth Sinha, son of veteran BJP leader Jashwant Sinha who is currently serving as MoS Finance could be given extra charge of corporate affairs. Also, sources have told us that Smriti Irani will be replaced by Harsh Vardhan as the HRD minister.

Ally Shiv Sena has been demanding more berths in the central cabinet. Sena is likely to nominate name of its MPs for reconsideration, which were left out in the last expansion.

The reshuffle can be seen in light of Modi’s first expansion in November last year when 21 new faces were inducted. The non-performers were either dropped or were demoted to less important ministries. Currently, the Cabinet has 26 Union ministers, 13 MoS with independent charges and 26 other MoS.
