A school bus is not supposed to be used for any other purpose than transporting school children. It was not supposed to be out on the roads on Sunday. But, the bus belonging to a educational institution owned by municipal administration minister P Narayana carrying people for YSRC chief Jagan Mohan Reddy’s programme raised several questions? There is no answer to them from the officials.
Meanwhile. Narayana Educational Institutions management in a press release condemned the accident and claimed that the bus was taken out without permission.
Educational institutions dean for East Godavari district Ch Srinivas Rao said they have cancelled the contract with the bus owner.
He said in the contract, it was clearly mentioned that school bus, when not ferrying school children, should be parked in the allotted space and not used for other purposes. He claimed that the bus was taken out without their knowledge and blamed bus operator Tataji for the incident. He said the bus operator also runs buses for other schools.
Home Minister N Chinarajappa ordered an inquiry into the accident. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced Rs 2 lakh ex gratia to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh as financial assistance to the injured. Expressing shock over several people losing their lives in different accidents in the state on Sunday, he spoke to collectors of respective districts and asked them to hold road safety awareness programmes.
