After the latest INNLIVE exposed how banks are shying away from turning Prime Minister's Jan Dhan Yojna into a reality because it does not suit their interests, authorities have sprung into action.
Within 24 hours of INNLIVE expose, the District Megistrate [DM] of Ghaziabad, Vimal Kumar Sharma swung into action and ordered an inquiry against the Ghaziabad banks featured in the news report which refused to open an account in the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna.
The DM Office will issue show cause notices to the banks shown in the expose. The DM also praised INNLIVE for its expose. The news report exposed 10 banks of Delhi-NCR refusing to open accounts in Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna. Out of 10 banks, 5 were from Ghaziabad.
Stern action notice against the erring banks will be send to the senior officials of the banks, DM Ghaziabad added. Vimal Kumar Sharma told: “Prandhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a very important scheme for the marginalised section of the society and if any bank is found not taking this scheme seriously, they should get ready to face strict action.”
