Who Reprise Shahrukh-Kajol’s Role In 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' Remake: Deepika-Ranveer, Katrina-Ranbir, Aalia-Siddharth Or Again SRK & Kajol?

With the 1000 week celebration of the film, we wonder if any filmmaker would take a fancy to remaking the legendary love story. That Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is a cult classic is a widely accepted fact. 

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s iconic love story went on to inspire a lot of Bollywood romances, but none could match Raj and Simran’s chemistry. Though we strongly veto a remake of DDLJ ever happening, we know that B-town has a dearth of ideas and someone would want to revisit this classic some day. Well if that happens, the safest choice to fill in SRK and Kajol’s shoes would be a real life couple; at least they’ll already have some chemistry going, right?

So here’s looking at some real life couples who can recreate the Raj-Simran magic on celluloid…

Deepika Padukone- Ranveer Singh
The idiom ‘when sparks flew’ could well be applied literally to Deepika and Ranveer’s sizzling on-screen presence as Ram-Leela. While Deepika has proved her ability to take up any role, there could have been no one better than Ranveer to play Raj, given his highly zesty approach, even in real life.

Katrina Kaif- Ranbir Kapoor
The couple that has been the talk of the town for quite some time now, might do justice to Raj and Simran’s character purely because they look as much in love with each other on-screen as they do off-screen. Though we are sure that Ranbir will more or less be able to pull off Raj’s character, we think Kat would have to put some more energy to play Simran.

Alia Bhatt- Sidharth Malhotra

The newest couple in B-town will represent the current generation aptly. Both Sid and Alia are good looking and have already scorched the big screen with their debut in Student of the Year. Also we can somehow draw parallel’s between Raj’s brooding demeanor and Sid and Alia’s spunky take on life like Kajol.

Anushka Sharma- Virat Kohli
Though Anushka and Virat have only come together on screen for a commercial, we can definitely see a chance of them making that giant leap on the big screen. There’s something elusive about this couple that is very attractive. We haven’t seen Virat’s acting chops yet, but with Anushka as a girlfriend there is no doubt in my mind that he will have the best teacher guiding him in his debut!
