Moharram - 'Yaum-e-Ashura' being observed with reverence in Hyderabad

In old city of Hyderabad the historic Bibi Ka Alam procession is being taken out to pay tributes to the martyrs of Karbala with hundreds of mourners participating in it.

Many are fasting and poor are being fed at houses and various places on Ashura day.

The tenth day of Muharramm, Yaume Ashura is being observed to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Husain. On this day, in 680 AD, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad and son of Hazrat Ali, Imam Husain lost his life along with his seventy two companions but did not deviate from the path of truthfulness and honesty. The day is being observed with grief and mournfulness all over the country.


Tazia processions are being taken out to mark the occasion. Religious meetings, highlighting the supreme sacrifice of Karbala Martyrs are also being held.

In Uttar Pradesh, the police has made elaborate security arrangements in view of ‘Yaume Ashura’. Lucknow district administration has made large scale security arrangements for religious processions which are being taken out today. Over twenty companies of PAC and RAF have been deployed in Lucknow where hundreds of police officers have been deployed at marked routes of the procession. More than 6,000 police personnel and several drones with live satellite feed are guarding the city, so that mourners can observe the Muharram peacefully.

Thousand of people in black attire are part of the mourning procession which began from Imabada of Nazim Sahab in Chowk this morning. The procession is gradually heading towards Talkatora Karbala where it will culminate.

In the evening, a Sham-e- Ghariban or the evening of utmost destitution depicting the grief and plight of companions of Imam Husain, will also be observed in Imambara Ghufranmaab today.

In Madhya Pradesh, mourning processions began from three different places of capital Bhopal which are on the way to Karbala. A procession of Tazias is also being taken out. Muharram is also being observed in other places of the state including Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur. People are offering sharbat and food to others. People of other communities are also participating in Muharram processions.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad member of parliament Asaduddin Owaisi said Never compromise with evil is the message of Karbala tragedy. Muslim should adopt the ways of Imam Hussain.

He urged Muslims to learn from the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and Ahle Bait and continue struggle for higher values and triumph of goodness over evil.

 “The incident of Karbala is remembered as historical event which established the lasting example of rendering sacrifice for upholding truth and principles. The Jihad fought by Hazrat Imam Hussain along with his companions is a shining minaret of courage, patience perseverance and determination”, said MIM leader.

The tenth day of Muharram is being celebrated by Shai community with a sorrow soul and remembering the incident of religious clerics. A huge procession organized in the city toi mark the historic muharram.
