TOP STORY Following media reports that Arvind Kejriwal might join BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party convener changed his stance on joining BJP, saying, "he was being misinterpreted".
"I'll never join these parties (BJP or Congress)," he asserted, while campaigning in different assembly segments of East Delhi constituency.
The former Delhi Chief minister's statement came after several media publications reported that Kejriwal might join BJP if Narendra Modi promises not to increase gas prices, if elected.
"Training his guns at BJP, Kejriwal said, “I am contesting from Varanasi as I want to defeat Modi," he pointed out.
However, the changing stances of Kejriwal, who managed to capture hearts of "common man" by offering people-centric governance in the national capital in assembly elections, has now raised doubts about whether he is really the political messiah people have been longing for.
Further, hitting back at Bharatiya Janata Party, who had accused him of running away from Delhi, Kejriwal justified his decision of resigning as Delhi CM by comparing himself to "Lord Rama" and King Harishchandra.
"It requires guts to leave the chair of Chief minister. I will stay here among people and will continue to torment you (BJP), said Arvind, adding, "Lord Rama left for vanvas (forest) on his mother's order despite popular support. Had BJP been there even they would have called him a bhagoda (deserter). Even they would call King Harishchandra a bhagoda had BJP been there during his time."
Kejriwal along with a large number of supporters stopped at various points and made short speeches. His women supporters performed "aarti", while male supporters gave him garlands.
