The world knows BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as a 'Bachelor'; however, 62-year-old Jashodaben claims to be the wife of the Gujarat Chief Minister.
BJP’s prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi has finally come out clean on his marital status declaring himself as a married man.
In an affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers filed on Wednesday for the Vadodara Lok Sabha seat, Modi stated for the first time that he is married and that his wife’s name is Jashodaben.

Reportedly, so far, Modi used to leave the “spouse” column in poll affidavits blank. He had left the column blank in the 2012 Assembly elections as well.
Jashodaben is a retired school teacher in Brahmanwada, a village about 35km from Vadnagar, Modi's hometown.
Earlier, in an interview, Jashodaben revealed that she was married to Narendra Modi when she was 17 and separated after about 3 years.
However, she said that they parted their ways on good terms. The Indian Express quoted her as saying, "In three years, we may have been together for all of three months. There has been no communication from his end to this day. I have never gone to meet him and we have never been in touch."
For the 2014 Lok Sabha election affidavit, in the column where he has to declare assets in the name of his wife, Modi has written that he has no information about it.
The Vadodara district election authority put the affidavit on the display board of the Collectorate on Wednesday night.
In an interview, Jashodaben, a retired school teacher, said she was married to Narendra Damodardas Mulchanddas Modi in 1968 when she was 17 and separated after about three years. She was in class 8 when she got married.
After separation, Jashodaben, who gets a monthly pension of Rs. 14,000, lives mostly with a brother and spends much of her time in prayer.
When asked if she feels burdened by the relationship, she said, "We have never been in touch and we parted on good terms as there were never any fights between us. I will not make up things that are not true. In three years, we may have been together for all of three months. There has been no communication from his end to this day."
Jashodaben reads news reports about Narendra Modi who is considered the frontrunner for the top job this year. She says she likes to read about him.
When asked whether she will try to meet Modi if he becomes prime minister of the country, she says, "I have never gone to meet him and we have never been in touch. I don’t think he will ever call me."
But she hopes that Modi will become PM one day.
After their 'bal vivah' (child marriage), Modi never met his wife once more as their 'gauna' (a ceremony associated with the consummation of marriage) never happened because Modi got interested in RSS.
When Jashodaben came to Vadnagar in Mehsana district to live with her in-laws family, Modi, as per the interview, asked her not to come over there and continue to pursue studies. When she started going to her in-laws place at different occasions, Modi stopped coming there.
But Jashodaben still claims to be the wife of the BJP's prime ministerial candidate.
"If I was not his wife, would you have come to speak to me?" she asked the correspondent of the English daily.
Jashodaben cracked the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in 1974 and went on to complete her teachers training in 1976. She became a teacher in 1978.
Interestingly, Jashodaben is very popular among her Muslim students.
According to an article, Muslim women at Rajosana village in Vadgam Taluk of Banas Kantha district where the estranged wife of the most powerful man in Gujarat lives in a one-room home, say that Jashodaben is shaping the personalities of their children through her diligence as a teacher.
