Do You Know, 'Dharmendra' Has '2-Sons & 4-Daughters'?

By Niloufer Khan | INNLIVE

REVEALED Dharmendra, full name Dharmendra Singh Deol, till date, has starred in over 250 films. It is said that at the tender age of 19, Dharmendra tied the knot with Prakash Kaur. Few years after his wedding, he stepped into the glamorous world of Bollywood. There he met a certain Basanti, with her taanga, who took his heart away. What happened later was history -- he got married -- once again in 1979 -- to Hema Malini.

His second marriage, till date, has many questions unanswered. For instance, did he divorce his first wife to remarry? Or was it a mutual agreement between him and Prakash? What's commonly known to people is that he has two kids, named Sunny and Bobby and two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol. Not many people have seen Dharmendra along with his first wife, she's not even spotted with Sunny or Bobby. Also, the actor, in total, has 4 daughters and 2 sons. Who are those 2 daughters?Have they never faced the camera?
Born in Punjab, Dharmendra's father was a school teacher. Above is a picture of Dharmendra when he was in his twenties. Popularly called Dharam ji, this Punjabi Sikh boy was a star of his times. He was already married by the time he began working in films.

Not many know that he has 4 kids from his first wife - Prakash Kaur.  Sons: Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Daughters: Vijetta and Ajeeta (nickname: Lally).

Sunny Deol, 57, is the eldest son of the Deol family. This first child grew up and came in the limelight, just like his father Dharmendra.

Soon, Sunny became the action hero of Bollywood and worked in many films. Delivering many hits at the Box Office -- such as Border, Gadar, Ghayal and Damini, he took his father's legacy forward.

Bobby Deol too grew up and entered Bollywood, to become an actor, albeit his forte, in the initial years, was romance, unlike his elder brother.

Bobby debuted with the film Barsaat opposite Twinkle Khanna. He won the Best Debut Actor award for this film. And many years later, he won the Filmfate Best Actor award for Humraaz. Currently, he's filming for Border 2.

The two sons have also acted with their father in films like Apne and Yamla Pagla Deewana series.

While Dharmendra's two sons took to acting, his two daughters from his first wife - Ajeeta and Vijetta - stayed away from the limelight, and as per reports, have been settled in California. Nobody gets to see them even at the family functions of Deols.

Years after stepping into Bollywood, Dharam met Hema Malini on the sets of Sholay and the two fell in love. Soon, Dharmendra changed his religion, switched to Islam, and married Hema. Above is a picture of their wedding.

Hema Malini gave birth to two daughters Esha and Ahana. And Sunny Deol tied the knot with Pooja Deol and has two sons named Karan and Rajvir Deol. While Rajvir is yet to face the camera, Karan Deol, Sunny's elder son, is ready for his Bollywood break. Goss has been that Sunny will soon retire after launching his child in films. Karan Deol was also seen assisting his father on the sets of Yamla Pagla Deewana, in order to learn acting.

Years after Sunny's marriage, Bobby Deol tied the knot withTanya. His sons are named Aryaman Deol and Dharam Deol (which looks like he's named his younger son after his father's name).

Meanwhile, Dharam's second wife Hema's daughters also grew up and were seen in television ads (Casper, Aquaguard, etc) and also at stage shows, performing classical dance with her. Like Bobby and Sunny, Esha too began to act in Bollywood films. Esha tied the knot with entrepreneur Bharat a few years ago and has bid goodbye to her acting career.

Younger sister Ahana Deol too had studied filmmaking to work in films, but, as they say, luck had something else in store for her. She met Vaibhav at her sister's wedding and the two fell in love. She got married to Vaibhav a couple of months ago in a ceremony where only close family members were present.

Abhay Deol forayed into Bollywood with Imtiaz Ali's 'Socha Na Tha'. His acting prowess was appreciated further in films like Dev D, Manorama Six Feet Under and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye. While brothers Sunny and Bobby were missing from both their stepsisters' (Esha and Ahana) wedding ceremonies, Abhay was present to wish his sisters. He's said to be sharing cordial relationship with all the members of the Deol family.
