BREAKING NEWS In a surprizing strong move, Congress party high command axed six rebel Seemandhra MPs from Andhra Pradesh, who moved a no-confidence motion against their own party led UPA government at the Centre were suspended from the party. The official announcement to this effect was made today.
According to Congress President Smt Sonia Gandhi, has approved the decision of the disciplinary committee of AICC to expel the following six members of the Parliament from Andhra Pradesh with immediate effect.
It may be recalled that Six Seemandhra MPs - Sabbam Hari, R Sambasivarao, Harshakumar, Sai Pratap, Lagadapati Rajagopal and V Arunkumar had moved a no-confidence motion against the UPA government.
The leaders had been criticizing the party ever since the CWC announced is decision to divide the state.
When Lagadapati was asked about the suspension, he said "I learnt about this only through the media. But officially, I have not received any information yet. We are ready to quit politics for the Samaikyandhra cause. Suspension from the party is not a big matter for us," he said.
"If the Congress sacks us, public will sack it," he quipped.
Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao said that they will announce their future course of action after February 21.
Responding to the news of suspension, Rayapati said that they signed the no-confidence motion only after being prepared for everything.
He also said that their no-confidence motion was not against the Congress party, but its decision to divide Andhra Pradesh.
