By Aniket Sharma | Delhi

The BSES Yamuna Power Limited is unable to make payment to power generation companies like NTPC/NHPC and others due to which Central and east Delhi is likely to face power cuts up to 8-10 hours a day in the coming days.  Nearly 13 lakh households may face this situation.

Though, Delhi government is obstinate about auditing all the companies that provide electricity in the capital. In the letter, BSES Yamuna Power Limited has alarmed about the load shed in forthcoming days in areas of Central and East Delhi due to unsteady cash flow.
Thus, BYPL is forced to pay partial payments to Delhi Gencos and Transco for power supplies. They also mentioned the outstanding amount of Rs. 1351 crore to them on December 31, 2013. In the letter, they stated that banks have also stopped helping them due to their recent situation and the company has no more resources or any financial ability to pay back. Other than Delhi government, the letter is also sent to various others including Union and Power and Finance Ministries as well as Lt Governor.

Further, in the letter, they have admitted that that they are not left with any funds to pay to NTPC and NHPC. The amount due for payment to the company is still Rs. 204 crore. The amount of Rs. 84 crore will be encashed by NTPC leaving the balance to Rs. 120 crore which will hang unpaid to them.

The BSES Yamuna Power Limited has requested the government in the letter to extend the credit to the company for atleast 90 days without any disruption or regulation by NTPC and NHPC.
