Qatar Football 'World Cup Stadium' Look Like A 'Vagina'

By Qamar Islam | Doha

The designers call it "truly the start of something amazing." But the amazement of fans looking at the design soon turns into amusement when they realise that the proposed Al Wakrah Stadium actually looks more like a part of the female anatomy than traditional dhow boat that officials say was the actual inspiration.

The proposed new 40,000-seat stadium has been designed by AECOM in association with Zaha Hadid Architects as a venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

AECOM says the stadium design has been "inspired by the dhow boat that carried generations of local fishermen and pearl divers, the stadium weaves together Qatar's past with its progressive vision for the future."

The pitch and the spectator stands of the stadium will be cooled to a perfect temperature for football in the otherwise hot Qatar weather.

Unfortunately for the organisers the accidental resemblance of the stadium design to female genitalia takes the focus away from the technical wizardry that would come into play to build such a stadium.
