Right-wing political outfit Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) was on Friday posed some tough questions by National Democratic Alliance(NDA) parties after it invited Bollywood actor Salman Khan to the inauguration of three-day Koli Mahotsav at Mahim beach.
Questioning his fidelity to the 'Marathi manoos', Shiv Sena asked why the patrons of the event including MNS chief Raj Thackeray didn’t invite a Marathi celebrity to the inauguration and instead preferred Salman Khan.
Backed by MNS, it is MNS legislator Nitin Sardesai who is the official incharge of the event which showcases the culture of Koli community, the original inhabitants of what now is Mumbai.
Besides Salman, Raj Thackeray and director Sajid Nadiadwala were also present at the function.
Reacting to Sena's attack, Mahim MLA Nitin Sardesai informed that a slew of actors from the Marathi film industry have been invited as guests on remaining two days of the event.
"It was just the first day of the event," he said.
Taking a dig at Raj after noting that Salman addressed the gathering in Hindi instead of Marathi, BJP's Mumbai unit spokesperson Pravesh Verma claimed that MNS chief is helping
Salman build goodwill among Kolis to help actor come clean in case filed against him by Koli family a year ago.
Notably, a FIR has been filed against the actor and his bodyguard at the Bandra Police Station for threatening a Koli family to pressurise them to vacate their houses.
