Taliban's Twitter Contest To Raise Awareness In India

By Paagal Patrkaar / Delhi

After opening office in Qatar and receiving offer of talks from the USA, Taliban is all set to take the next step to go mainstream. “We want to expand in India, and for that we are organizing planning to Twitter contests,” a Taliban spokesperson told.

Although Taliban has presence on Twitter and they have been tweeting for over two years, they are saddened with the low level of awareness among the Indian users. “Even Congress leader Amaresh Misra, who regularly issues threat to rape and kill people, doesn’t follow us,” the Taliban spokesperson rued.

Sources say that Taliban decided to expand in India after India welcomed talks with Taliban. The terrorist group is hopeful to influence “narrative” and “discourse” on Twitter and finally get co-opted in the mainstream society. As part of its plans, Taliban will give away goodies like “automatic beheading machines” and “smart suicide bombing kid” to people who will win the contest by tweeting with the hashtag #ilovetaliban
