After alleging that Vindoo Dara Singh was in touch with bookies and maybe even players participating in the IPL, the Mumbai Police now claims that the actor was in regular touch with the son-in- law of N Srinivasan, who is the franchise owner of Chennai Super Kings. The police had evidence that the actor was in touch with the relative of N Srinivasan, the president of the Indian cricket board.
A tweet available, that the person, Vindoo was in touch with Gurunath, the son-in-law of the Srinivasan, who is the owner of the Chennai team franchise and is the CEO of the team. “The team owner’s relative’s mobile number has repeatedly shown up in Vindu’s call records, which we’ve been scanning for the past three days,” an unnamed top police official was quoted as saying in a Times of India report.
The police official said that it was not yet established whether Vindoo was involved only in betting, or spot fixing and match fixing as well.
According to the police, they have evidence that Vindoo would call bookie Ramesh Vyas right after talking to the relative of the team owner.
The presence of Vindoo in the Chennai team’s VIP box has also raised questions about the level of access that he may have had to the team and if he was able to influence the outcomes of matches in any way.
The police has already said told a Mumbai court yesterday that they needed to probe links between Vindoo and bookies, and to verify whether he had been indulging in spot fixing.
Phone call data records which showed the actor was in contact with absconding bookie identified as ‘Jupiter’, wanted by both Mumbai and Delhi police in connection with separate spot-fixing cases registered by them.
The Mumbai Police, however, has shown no link between the arrests of bookies and Vindoo with the case being probed by the Delhi Police in which they had arrested three Rajasthan Royals players including S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila.
Vindoo has been booked under sections of law dealing with forgery and cheating.
