'TELANGANA' HEATS WITH 'HORSE-TRADING' POLITICS IN AP

By M H Ahssan / Hyderabad

Andhra Pradesh is facing a massive'horse-trading' politics in telangana region with 'pressure mounting tactis'. The leading party 'Telangana Rashtra Samiti' is making all types of political gimmicks to attrack and adopt the 'not-satisfied' leaders from ruling congress party.

With second June set as a deadline for the floor-crossing by then, the loudmouthed former APCC chief K Keshav Rao and the troika of MPs Manda Jagannadham, Rajaiah and G Vivek may be expecting an olive branch from the Congress high command. By organising defections of senior leaders worth their fault into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS), the party supremo KCR is trying to fortify the base of his Telangana politics.
Nagam Janardhan Reddy finally made it clear that he would dawn saffron robes — this doesn’t mean he is renouncing everything but he will be embracing Hindutva ideology. He expects the formation of Telangana would be a spin off. Now he almost made it clear that he would seek an election from Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha constituency, which is currently represented by KCR. In other words the BJP is pulling its socks up to take on KCR head on.

By ushering in Kadiyam  Srihari, KCR indeed hit the TDP below the belt. There is no wonder , going by the utterances of Srihari, that it is just a conjecture of time before the Errabellis and Revuris to bade adieu to the TDP and join the brigade of Pink Panther.

Having announced boisterously that his party would enthrone a dalit as the cheif minister if all ifs are full filled, KCR is dangling the carrot of power to lure as many dalits into the party. For now, Kadiyam Srihari is the best bet if all ifs are full filled and KCR’s dreams realized.

What are the ifs? 1. Formation of a separate Telangana, 2.TRS secruing a majority of seats in the region to become eligible  to form the government, 3. KCR should be in a position to keep the flock together fighting too many Goliaths.

KCR adopts the Sonia Gandhi model of politics. He believes in the age old dictum of power lies in giving away. The dalit CM concept is born from this thought process. KCR wants to remain the king maker, but not the king. He remotely attempts to emulate Bal Thackeray, but the right wing tiger stayed away from electoral politics. KCR might not strictly do a Thackeray. Thus perching himself on the same pedestal as that of Sonia Gandhi. Of course, KCR announced that he did not want any position, but never said he did not want power.

KCR is aware of the undercurrent of YSR Congress, the power its leader wields and the surreptitiously spreading popularity of YSJagan. Come election time, there will be leaders queuing up to join hands with Jagan in Telangana region.

While KCR and the BJP are overtly trying to strengthen their positioning the YSRC is doing it covertly. The Congress is playing politics that may or may not benefit the party, for it has been miscalculating everything ever since the demise of YSR Reddy.

The TDP, on its part, is trying to appear confident and several leaders are joining the party. However those seeking entry in to the party are nondescript leaders like Dommeti Sambaiah and Ramesh(Kagajnagar), or retired politicians like DKSamarasimha Reddy and Rumandla Ramachandraiah or defeated leaders like Chada Suresh Reddy. The Telugu Desam cadre and its loyalist media may brag that too many leaders are angling to join the party, but the writing on the wall as to how much of consequence they are is beyond any doubt.
