A day after a Telugu TV channel staff and Nalsar University students lodged complaints against each other in connection with the clash between them at Rain Tree pub, the Jubilee Hills police on Saturday registered criminal cases against both.
While the police registered cases on the TV channel staff for assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, police booked Nalsar University student for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication.
According to police, Nalsar students Sruthi, Megha, Prachi and others visited all the TV channel offices and met their heads.
They also submitted representations seeking their intervention in connection with their footage recorded through a mobile phone near a pub by the mediamen.
As a part of this, the students also went to TV 5 office and met a senior journalist. When the students were discussing the issue, the staff came to the place and had an argument with them. During the altercation, the staff reportedly beat the students,” police said.
Both TV channel staff and Nalsar University students approached the Jubilee Hills police and lodged complaints against each other. The police, who received the complaints on Friday, registered cases against both.
Jubilee Hills inspector DV Pradeep Kumar said they registered cases against the TV channel staff under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 354 (assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC. Nalsar students were booked under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) of the IPC.
A few days ago, when the Nalsar University students were celebrating at a pub in Jubilee Hills, TV channel reporters went there and recorded some footage of the students through mobile phone. There was a clash between the mediamen and the students.
Police said they would also issue a notice to the pub management, as a part of the investigation.
