ACTRESS JAYAPRADA ALL SET TO JOIN CONGRESS

By Shekhar Reddy / Hyderabad

Actress and member of parliament from Rampur Jayaprada will soon join the Congress. She called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and sought an assurance for an MP seat and expressed her desire to seek an election to the Lok Sabha from her native Rajahmundry constituency. However, grapevine has it that Sonia politely declined this request, for she has to accommodate the die-hard loyalist of the Congress’ first family, Vundavalli Aruna Kumar.

Now Jayaprada is likely to contest from any of the Lok Sabha constituencies either from Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka. In fact, Jayaprada made very serious attempts to gain entry into the YSR Congress.

However, she wanted to be fielded from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha seat which was not acceptable to the YSR Congress, as it was already promised to the son of Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao.

Besides, the YSR Congress had another serious reservation about Jayaprada and the party did not want to spell it out. That is how the doors were never opened for her.

Mohan Babu claimed that his recent statement that he had no strength of launching a new political party and making money in its garb was not aimed at Chiranjeevi. It was media creation, he said, adding that Chiranjeevi was a good friend and was working well as the Tourism Minister.

Though it is widely speculated that Mohan Babu would join the YSRC, the party insiders are skeptical about it. The party is yet to make up its mind on whether Mohan Babu would be an asset or a liability, for the actor angered some castes in  the recent past.
