CBI is said to be planning to link the arrest of auditor Vijaya Sai Reddy to stall the bail plea of the YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
When Jagan filed a bail petition in the Supreme Court, he was directed to file his petition only after the deadline set by it to the CBI for filing its final charge-sheet in his case.
As per the directions of the Apex Court, CBI would have to file its fifth charge-sheet in the illegitimate assets case against Jagan, by the end of this month.
CBI which had already filed four chargesheets in the case, is preparing the fifth now. As soon as CBI files it, Jagan would be entitled to file his bail petition again.
However, to stall the bail, CBI is said to be preparing to argue that Vijaya Sai Reddy, a key accused in the case, should not be out. The agency is likely to plead that the auditor’s bail should be cancelled, so that it could file the fifth charge sheet. The agency would argue that if Vijaya Sai was out, he might threaten or influence the witnesses. The agency might state that it would be able to file the fifth charge sheet only after withdrawal of the bail of Vijaya Sai, say sources.
Meanwhile, Vijaya Sai is preparing to perform the marriage of his daughter in a few days. How the court would react to the plea of CBI for his arrest, in view of the marriage is to be seen. Informed sources say that Jagan’s bail was now in Vijaya Sai’s hands.
