Collector of Dhule and political leaders to appeal to state home ministry to remove the video clips off the YouTube
While the seventh victim of Dhule riots which occurred on January 6, continues to be critical with one of his legs amputated and on a ventilator, the five video clips of inflammatory speeches by Hyderabad based MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi doing rounds in Dhule before riots broke out have come under the scanner.
While the district collector is sending a letter to SP, Dhule to take appropriate action, the Shiv Sena’s Dhule city chief is taking up the matter with the state home ministry appealing for the removal of the video clips from Youtube, which is accessed particularly by youngsters.
District Collector Prakash Mahajan stated that, some political leaders have brought to his attention that five video clips of Owaisi’s hate speeches have been doing rapid rounds through emails and cell phones. As a precaution, Mahajan said that he is sending an official letter to Superintendent of Police, Dhule for further action.
Bhupendra Lahamge, Dhule city chief of Shiv Sena stated that “Owaisi’s speech should have been immediately removed from the youtube by the government, as it has had an ‘indirect’ impact on Dhule’s sensitive atmosphere. It may have led to a more charged atmosphere than warranted, considering that the seed of the riot was a petty argument over a food bill.”
While the spread of the video clips has been like wildfire, Mahajan admitted that they had fanned more anger amongst affected citizens.
