Vision of India - Dare to Dream - I

By M H Ahssan

One day a rich man took his young son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a day and a night on the farm of a very poor family when they returned from their trip.

The father asked his son. ”How was the Trip”?
“Very good, Dad!” son replied.
“Did you see how poor people Live?” the Father asked.
“Yes”.
“And what did you learn?”
The son answers “I saw that we have one dog at home and they have four. We have Pool that reaches the middle of the garden, while they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our patio reaches only till the front yard and they have a whole horizon”.

Upon Learning what the little boy said his father was left speechless.

The above story comes to me from an NRI in the gulf, and it strives to make a print. I appreciated the little boy’s innocent optimism. But I must hasten to add that thought the NRI did see it he failed to recognize what he saw. No matter how we look at it, there is a big difference between a condition and its perception. A condition remains just that a condition, until it is changed. Poverty and hunger are conditions. No matter how we perceive the stars and the creeks, it still does not help feed a hungry stomach and does not save the life of a child who is dying because he can’t afford the medicine.

As a concerned citizen, we need to ask has our consciences goes to sleep or is it dead? If it had gone to sleep there series of articles are the wake up call and there is hope, but it is lead, then we are leading for self destruction. It is a call to action. It is a challenge that will put us on the path of prosperity I encourage every Indian to take the initiative in bringing glory to India.

Concerned citizens empower themselves to decide their own future and that of the nation. This life is not a dress rehearsal and the stakes are too high. There are no ideal conditions and there never shall be this is about here and now. Anyone who has ever achieved anything in life, must has been tested with fire. Winners achieve success despite problem, not in their absence.

All it takes to change the counsel history is a small group of genuinely interested citizens. Is our society ready to be guided by a leader who will accept the challenge to honestly lead principled citizens to dignity and prosperity? You can be the Leader! Don’t turn around and look for a leader in another person. He’s looking up to you for leadership take control of your own destiny.

THIS IS THE MOVEMENT!
These articles are not just a complication of date. The objective is not to generate any sympathy, but to generate empathy which propels a person into action. These articles are not for everyone it is for those who not only have the character, but also the courage to take a stand for a cause. These series of articles are the movement, later active participation to get a pride India’s leader and a good citizen.

DARE TO DREAM
Close your eyes keep them closed for a minute. Dare to dream. Think of a wonderful future in which India is a beautiful place. We are a compassionate and caring society. We are the beacon of courage and integrity. We have eradicated the scourge of poverty. Power cuts and poor governmental services are a thing of the past. We lead the world in many areas of business and technology. The air is unpolluted and our sleep undisturbed. We command respect across the world. We are society, free from crime. People from all nations are here to explain set by our nation and want to live in India.

We can achieve all of this and more, and other countries have done before us. And why not? We have all the ingredients to create a recipe for success – talented people, natural resources, a functioning democracy and an appetite for growth and development. However have we arrived? Not Yet.

Have you ever wondered why some societies are more conducive to hones and progressive living than others? It is not a secret. They simply think and act more effectively they create a climate that rewards honesty and hard work.

Just like a road map’s purpose is to give direction and help people travel with confidence, similarly history gives information on civilizations that were once furnishing, but gradually went into oblivion. The ones that survived were those that stood firm on the pillars of values and institutions. this goes to prove that flexibility stops when it starts encroaching on vales of political structure are far shorter lived than moral structures.

A great management consultant once said, “Any behavior that gets rewarded gets respected” this is a universal principle. It cuts across countries, religion and culture. It is demonstrated in our homes, offices, and societies. Hen you reward positive behavior, it gets respected. But hen you reward negative behavior then that gets respected too.

Values are principles that guide our actions. Positive values, such as integrity, fairness and empathy, result in positive behavior and build positive society. This is turn is conducive to honest living, growth and development. Negative values such as cheating, dishonesty, greed and inferiority complex result in negative behavior, generating a negative society which becomes conducive to dishonest living.

Commonly practiced individual behaviors collectively from a society culture which in turn, gets labeled as either positive or negative such behavior patterns are reflected in the qualify of live that people lead. Positive culture is reflected as an asset on the balance sheet of society.
