Microsoft's spam filters for it email services have been experiencing issues over the past 12 hours.
If you woke up to high volumes of spam in your Outlook and Hotmail accounts this morning, you weren't the only one.
Microsoft has confirmed that its spam filters for its email services are experiencing issues causing users to suffer from "excessive spam", however the software giant is in pursuit of fixing it.
Microsoft's service status page revealed it is in the process of implementing two fixes, a short term fix to prevent spam reaching inboxes and the other, a long term fix to stop spam reaching Microsoft's infrastructure.
At time of writing, Microsoft has updated its service status page, which read: "We've successfully implemented the short term fix, which has reduced the amount of spam mail reaching your inbox. The second, longer term fix, is being deployed throughout our infrastructure and is approximately 80% complete."
Microsoft has not confirmed how the problem began, however users should not be receiving excessive spam emails anymore.
