Barely a few minutes after Arvind Kejriwal has taken over the mantle of the Chief Minister of Delhi, he may soon find himself enlisted among the former Chief Ministers of Delhi whose worth run in crores. An interesting fact about the Kejriwal couple is that they combined own assets worth Rs. 2.10 crores.
As per information furnished by the AAP chief to the Election Commission, Arvind Kejriwal had declared Rs. 2 crore worth of moveable and immovable assets, including those of his wife, according to an affidavit filed by him. Kejriwal filed his nomination papers from the New Delhi assembly constituency for the Dec 4 elections.
As per the affidavit, the value of the movable and immovable assets of Kejriwal and his wife Sunita Kejriwal is worth Rs.2, 10, 48, 389.
As per details submitted in the affidavit filed with the returning officer, Kejriwal declared that he has two flats in his name, at Indirapuram in Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) worth Rs. 55 lakhs and at Karnal district in Haryana worth Rs. 37 lakhs. He also has bank deposits worth Rs. 1, 62, 000 and Rs. 5, 000 cash in hand.
Talking of liabilities, Kejriwal is yet to pay his electricity bill worth Rs. 23,000. Kejriwal, in 2012, had led a movement against the hike in power tariff in Delhi and had urged the residents not to pay their bills.
Meanwhile the wife of the activist-turned-politician, Sunita Kejriwal has a bank deposit of Rs. 16, 85, 000, including jewellery worth Rs. 9 lakhs along Rs. 10, 000 cash in hand. She also owns a house in Gurgaon near Delhi worth Rs. 1 crore.
But talking about the details of the assets declared by the new Chief Minister of Delhi, it is clear that he is definitely richer than the poorest Chief Minister in India, Manik Sarkar.
Sarkar, who has been the Chief Minister of Tripura for the past 15 years and is leading the CPI (M) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, is perhaps India’s poorest Chief Minister.
Sarkar had declared the value of his movable and immovable assets as Rs. 2.5 lakhs. In accordance with this, the newbie Kejriwal is definitely around 100 times richer than the poorest Chief Minister in India.
Tripura’s Chief Minister, Sarkar, had declared Rs. 9, 720 cash in bank and Rs. 1, 080 cash in hand according to his latest election deficit. As per details submitted by Sarkar, he had never invested in jewellery, shares, bonds, or any other investment modes. Sarkar’s wife, a retired central government employee, has Rs. 22, 015 in hand. She has another Rs. 24, 52, 395 in banks. Of this, Rs. 18, 930 and Rs. 84, 118 are in two savings accounts. The rest of the money, mostly retirement benefits, is in the form of fixed deposits. When asked about him being tagged as the poorest Chief Minister in India, Sarkar revealed that he never felt ashamed about it, rather felt proud about the same.

richer or poorer are no indicators of sincerity and honesty. Many of the most corrupt politicians and even government servants incl. beureucrats have come from very poor background.
