'THE ALL-NEW JAGAN IS OFFING', DV RAO JOINS YSRCP

By Swati Reddy / Hyderabad

Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, who used to launch fireworks against the YSR clan in and outside the legislature, suddenly found a ‘different Jagan’ today at Chanchalguda jail. Rao never concealed a mischievous smirk on his face whenever Chandrababu Naidu had said that anybody would go to a temple or a place of worship of their choice before joining any political party, but those who wanted to join the YSR Congress would have to visit a prison. But he had to do the same thing on Saturday, the ‘muhurat’ he and his son Ratnakar chose to ‘baptize’ themselves into the YSR Congress.
Rao just crossed paths with Jagan at a wedding in M V Mysoora Reddy’s family quite sometime ago. The senior TDP leader saw a Jagan seething with vengeance on Saturday. What he did not understand in 30 years could be made out in no time. What a transformation of sorts? He recounted his interaction with Jagan inside the prison during his ‘mulaqat’.  What he had spoke so far against Jagan was the standpoint of a political party he so far had been representing.

Now, Dadi has a different view about Jagan. He recalls that Jagan exuded confidence that the people would surely enthrone the YSR Congress in the State. Jagan, upon his release, would go into the people. Dadi later in the day called on Jagan’s mother and honorary president of YSR Congress YS Vijayalakshmi and formally joined the party. She welcomed Veerabhdra Rao and his son Ratnakar into the party by offering them the party scarves.

Dadi told presspersons that Jagan had the responsibility of providing direction to the State, as the State was passing through a crisis. “Seats, power and positions are not important to us. We decided to stand by the YSR family at this hour of crisis. It was only YSR who implemented welfare schemes for the poor after NTR in the State. The differences with Konathala Ramakrishna and family are only political in nature and they were not personal. Very soon, all of them would get resolved,” he said.
Meanwhile, YSRC leader Jupudi Prabhakara Rao felt that more and  more people would join the YSR Congress soon.

Deriding the observation of Chandrababu Naidu that if he opened gates, a lot of people would join the TDP, the YSRC MLC said that nowhere water would get into a reservoir f floodgates were opened. It’s actually the other way round. Most people would leave the party, if Naidu opened the floodgates, he said.

Vizag district convener Golla Babu Rao welcomed Dadi Veerabhadra Rao’s joining the party. Anakapalle MP Sabbam Hari, who is still in the Congress officially, welcomed Dadi Veerabhadra Rao and his son into the YSR Congress.

Moral of the story: Do not attack anybody below the belt. Maintain restraint in choice of words. It is independent of the political party one is affiliated to, for there may be a day when the political identity may have to be changed.
